try and remove the ice bin.the watch the auger motor while the door is open and the switch help close while some one is tryind to dispence ice.if the auger turns the check and see if the u shaped braket is stripped you can tell this by grabbing it and turning back and forth it should only move one way.if it does not turn then the auger motor does need to be replace.make sure to check the wiring as well.if the motor turn check th is bin and make sure there is no ice jammed in the teeth of the auger this wolud stopp it from turning.i hope this was some help to you good luck. would like to here how things go for you.
Pull the ice bucket out, then hold in on the door light switches and while you push a glass into the button for ice (may require two people). Ice dispenser and auger will only work, when you push for ice, when the freezer door is closed, so by holding the light switch(s) in the off position with door open you can simulate door being closed. If you can push the button and see the auger drive turn (with ice bucket out) then check to see if you have some ice stuck between the blades on the bucket, if the auger motor doesn't turn, it may be "ice frozen". Common problem. Remove motor, let sit on counter for about three hours and then reinstall, if it then works then check for water dripping from the fill tube, where the water comes into freezer for the ice maker, and see if it is dripping onto auger motor.
If you put auger motor back in and it still won't turn then more and likely you need an auger motor.
Ouch, if your auger won't turn, pull out the ice tray unit. At the back you will see the gear for the auger unit. Try and move it, both clockwise and counterclockwise. If it won't turn - you have a motor problem and needs replacement. If it turns too freely, then you have a weak motor and it will not push the ice.
rmielsen and PhyllisForbe, Your refrigerator has an auger motor that causes the ice to be dispensed when you press the ice selector on the front of the refrigerator. You could have several possible problems that will gives you the same result. The auger motor could be at fault. The ICE selector part of the control panel of the front of the refrig could be at fault. To isolate to auger or control... do the following. Remove the ice bucket or auger assembly from the freezer. Reach into the freezer compartment where the auger assembly normally would be. You should be able to see a "horse shoe shaped metal drive assembly" that would mesh with the auger assembly (ice bucket) to turn the cork screw shaped auger. Try and turn the auger drive assembly in rear of freezer to determine if motor armature is free. The is somewhat difficult to do because the auger motor is high torque, slow rpm motor, but it should turn if it is good. Sometimes the auger motor will become stuck due to a water leak, inactivity, high humidity during a defrost cycle, etc. The more possible suspect is the ICE selector assembly on the front of the refrigerator. If any function on the refrig fountain dispenser control panel goes bad...then the ice/water control assembly will need to be replaced. Hopes this helps you! HandyHenry
Hi, it sounds like you have a bad auger motor on your dispencer. If the button works for water, usually it will work for ice. It is also possible that you have a bad dispencer control board. If you would provide me your model # I could assist you further.
You do not list model number, so this will be very generic. If you have cubes in the ice bin, and when you try to dispense them the duct door opens and the auger motor runs, check the auger in the ice bin itself. Check where the spiral auger meets the plastic part on front of the auger. Drive part likely seperated.
well if you trouble shoot the board at the back to see if you are getting voltage if you are then use a jumper on that conenctor and see if the auger motor runs or remove auger motor and check voltage there while pressing the lever for ice usually 100% of the time that board controls everyhting water and ice
