The bottom "coil" unit in my jenn air over w132 lit up like a firecracker and burned all the way around - and now doesn't work. I replaced it about 2 years ago for the same issue. Is there something bigger wrong to cause this?

There are no official problem notices about this so basically no. I have customers that regularly blow heating elements and coils in many other brands and quite a few go every few months.

I have a propane Jenn Air gas wall oven. The broiler works fine, the bottom log will not light because it isn't getting gas. The light to ignite the gas is working fine. What do I do? I do not have the...

Hi I think that the Thermo-couple is bad That is the part that senses the flame or electric heat coil-heater warming up to ignite the flame for pilot light. there is a rod that is next to the electric coil which senses the heat coming from the coil. If that isn't working properly the pilot wont light and the log won't lite because the gas valve won't turn on for safety factors. The part is nit too hard to replace but you need to lay on the floor to get at it.
Sometimes the lower shield or bottom lifts up and removes
to service it . the thing is small about 1 in long with a copper tube, or steel braided jacket around the wire. the coil is maybe 6-10" long when rolled out. But don;t roll it out or bend a sharpkink in the thin copper tube because it will be ruined. The part doesn't cost much $10.00 -30.00. you may need some screwdrivers and 3/8 "or 7/16" open end wrench and maybe a 1/4 in. nut driver pliers..
Good luck, Bill

Jenn air svd46800 not working

I'd be on the hunt for a burned fuse I could replace, on those two circuit panels. If no fuse(s) can be found, I would be sad to think the circuit board itself got fried, and new ones can be goofy expensive, so here's to you finding a burned fuse!!

I have double jenn-air built in ovens . when I turn top oven on it starts to beep and wont heat up.any suggestions. the bottom oven still works fine

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you want to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more than this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Most of the buttons on the panel do not respond when pressed. incl;uding, convection, setup, rapid preheat

Are the oven doors locked as well, check if the front panel lock is active. Press and hold both the upper oven Cancel and Cook & Hold buttons for 3 seconds (or a bit longer). (Off should disappear from the display and the Lock indicator will flash.)

If that doesn't help, try pressing Cancel. Then try pressng the Cancel and Cook&Hold keypads together. If this doesn't help, then the control panel or the control itself is damaged and probably needs to be replaced. (Touch pads like this have electrical contacts on a membrane that is impossible to fix long term by cleaning the unit.)

For a parts list and prices see: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Jenn-air-Parts/Wall-oven-Parts/Model-JJW9130DDS/1266/0125300/M0603043/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= or http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170052&diagram_id=28429593 . Specifically part 1A and 2 are suspect. The control panel is the more likely part to fail (much like a membrane keyboard).

Most Jenn-Air appliance manuals are available here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US . Fill in Consumer and then the model number and press the right arrow button. The direct link to the manual is http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%20W10176680.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Panel light is out

There is a capacitor on the clock board labelled C3. It will probably have brown burns on it or "syrup" leaking around the base. You can buy a box of 10 of these for 75 cents at Radio Shack (make sure you match the label on the old capacitor, I think it's 58mf and 35V but I could be wrong) and a pencil soldering iron for $10. It's held on with 2 little wires. Before taking it off note capacitor orientation (where the blue +++ stripe is), the replacement has to go on the same way. Common problem and easy fix.

The electrical panel does not light up

I'm afraid you are going to need a new display board. Not very hard to change but a pricey item. Have seen this problem a few times. Good Luck!

Oven bakes unevenly and burns food

When foods are burned, soggy, or baked unevenly, it generally means heat isn't being distributed evenly throughout the oven, its escaping out the door or the controls are out of adjustment. 1) Remove any aluminum foil from racks or the bottom of the oven. 2) Check the door gasket and, if necessary, have it replaced. 3) Be sure nothing is obstructing the vent. 4) Reposition the oven racks so baking pans aren't too close to the heat sources. 5) Check your baking pans. If they're dark, they may be burning your food. Reduce temperature by 25 degrees F when baking in dark metal or glass pans. 6) Recalibrate the controls.
