Yes, you are right! Now a days most of the people are using electric shaver because of its advantages like:
It gives a fast shave.
It is cheaper than manual shaving kits
It gives a smooth shave and also there is no chance to get cut or skin irritation
If you are looking for beard trimmer than i will let know that trimmers are used to cleaning up the edges. I would recommend you to use clippers rather than using trimmers because clippers are used for doing the bulk of a haircut.
If it is battery powered then the battery is probably flat. If the batteries are rechargeable then check the charger and if alkaline then get new one/s
Assuming you have cleaned and lubed the blades, then you need to dismantle requiring a torx screwdriver. Firstly, take off the top cover and remove the foil itself. There are two torx screws there, and another one where the power charger goes in at the bottom. Once those 3 are removed, pull apart the main black/grey sections. There are 2 more screws holding the battery in place, remove them and the battery. Next bit is tricky - where the 2 grey 'dimples' are, gently loosen the two sections which should leave the black slider holding the trimmer and just one side of the grey outer shell. It felt to me it was going to break, but came apart without issue. I couldn't work out how to seperate the black trimmer section here, but you can buy replacement trimmer sections so assuming it's possible somehow. From here, I cleaned, and soaked the blades with lube overnight. Then put back together again.
Panasonic does not sell the specialized batteries for their shavers. Your best bet would be to purchase one of the models that replaced it. I have included links to two models below. These are very similar to model ES4011 and use the same shaver head as your model
If the trimmer is actually broken, you can not repair it. More likely, it is just jammed or has a buildup of hair particles and skin oils causing it to be locked up.
Take a very shallow dish of rubing alcohol and dip JUST THE TEETH of the trimmer in it. Then turn on the shaver and attempt to use the trimmer. Repeat this process several times. The alcohol may help remove any build up that is present. If it still will not work, you may have to help the blades out a bit by manually sliding the moveable blade back and forth once or twice. You can advance the moveable blade with the tip of a jewelers screwdriver or similar object. Once you've advanced the blade, do the bit with the alcohol again to be sure any remaining residue is rinsed away.
