I would check for Bad solder joints around the flyback, and the verticle and horizontal yoke plugs for starters. Lower your volume and listen if you hear the high voltage come back up when your video comes back up. Let me know what you discover when you check the solder joints.

More likely is a bad solder connection on the vertical output IC or at one of the yoke connectors. Trace the deflection yoke connections back to find a small IC on a heat sink, usually with a location number in the 400s. Resolder the connections at the yokes and at that chip.

Your problem is most likely in the vertical sweep circuit. This is a protection built into projection TV set when they lose the vertical sweep so the three picture tubes do not get burn lines in the face of them. This problem is a bad b+ supply capacitor that feeds the voltage to the vertical IC in the sweep power supply, and or the vertical IC could have gone bad. If the vertical is working, you may have a video problem.Do you have the service manual so you can check out voltage supplies at various test points in the verticle and video circuits?

If it seems to be doing better since you've been looking over the components. That tends to make me more convinced its solder related. You may have to look it over really good with a magnifying glass as alot of times there super hard to see little cracks show up under magnification.

Read that this is a common problem...I have a VS-60111....when i turn it on it clicks then goes right back off....I used to manage a service department for a place called Conns. Sell appliance and...

You cannot be sure of the problem unless you try the error code operational check. Here are the instructions for doing it
Turn off the tv from the remote and unplug it. Plug it back in . Press and hold the menu and Device/Input buttons on the front panel of the tv for 5 seconds. The LED will blink a certain number of times, pause for half a second followed by another series of blinks. Count the number of blinks before and after the pause so that I can tell you what the problem is.

I have a Mitsubishi VS-60111 TV and the colors are messing up. When I go into the Convergence screen, the blue line is warped and will not let me move it back itno place. What do I need to do?

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some images of convergence problems.

Turned out to be a problem with my dish receiver. Found out by attaching a separate DVD unit to the TV, and it didn't flash. I then realized everything ran through the dish receiver. Called them, reset ( by unplugging for 90 seconds) and all was well.
