NO POWER TO THE DOOR PANEL

I have power to my dishwasher but nothing on the door panel will work. It doesn't even ligth up.

  • Flint 361 Jan 05, 2008

I wondered that too. I hear a "click" when I close the door and I have opened and closed it a few times but still nothing. Is there anyother way to check if it is latching properly. By the way, I gave the wrong Model # it is MDBTT79AWB. Maybe there is something on record for this problem on the correct number model.

    Thanks

  • Flint 361 Jan 05, 2008

    Thanks

I'm was a bit hesitant to remove the door panel but perhaps I will give it a try before calling for service.

  • Anonymous Jan 05, 2008

you need to get inside the door to check those switches(power off) Ive had the door handle assembly on this model break quite a bit so i would check that first.

Thermal Fuse If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work.

Door Switch The door switch, or switches, are sometimes called interlock switches. The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running while the door is open. If the dishwasher won't start, the switch or switches might be defective. To access the door switches, remove the control panel or inside door panel - depending on the model. They can be tested for continuity.

Main Control Board The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher won't start the main control board might be defective. YOU should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

Touchpad and Control Panel If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced. On some models the touchpad and control panel are sold together and will need to be replaced at the same time.

Touchpad If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced.

Timer The timer allows power to flow to the proper parts at the proper times. If the dishwasher won't start, the timer might be defective. Keep in mind that timers are often misdiagnosed as the cause of a problem. Check other components first before replacing the timer.

My dishwasher has no power not even on the touch panel leds lights. I checked the connections.. Is there a reset button or a fuse i can replace or reset?

Check the appropriate breaker in your house electrical panel--push off, then on. If still nothing, look for a removable panel at the bottom under the door. Any internal fuses or breakers will be accessible there.

LG LDS5811BB Dishwasher

Some of the LG LDS5811 had problems with the wiring harness in the door panel. This is nothing to mess with unless you have disconnected the DW from power.
You can open the door panel by removing the screws around the inside edge of the DW. Or, better yet, firmly but politely contact LG service and tell them you are aware of LDS5811 dishwashers having these symptoms being caused by _melting_ wires in inside the door panel. This is true and even if the DW is out of warranty, LG should fix this problem at no cost to you.
Good Luck!

No power to control panel after power surge

1. No power to the dishwasherMake sure there's power getting to the dishwasher. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the dishwasher (inside the junction box, behind the bottom kick panel), if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch
Replace if defective.

3. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

4. Selector switch
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Power to dishwasher and will not run

Check your thermal fuse. It will be inside the control panel, clipped to the control board somewhere. It's usually a white plastic square piece with two wires connected to it. The fuse should read a short. If the fuse is blown, you will need to replace it. If the fuse reads good, I would suspect you have a control board problem. Make sure you secure power to the dishwasher BEFORE you take any resistance checks, however. Even if the fuse is blown, you could still have live voltage on one side of the fuse. If you cannot find the fuse, there should be a tech sheet with wiring diagrams inside the lower kick plate below the door. This could be a tremendous help you as well. Let me know what you find.
