65" Mitsubishi projection tv, my colors are not matching up.

My colors are not matching up. On certain games and shows, I can actually see the red is sitting lower than the other two colors. I have a 65" model ws-65809 12o volts, 60 hz, 280 watts, manufactured in 2001. How do I fix this?

If red or blue will not adjust in some direction--you have a Convergence circuit problem---

This model (WS-65809) uses two of the STK-392-570 Convergence IC's---

Green for a good reason is not adjustable in the customer mode---it is only adjusted for the Geometry or straightness of the picture and then red and blue are adjusted to it.

If you are able to do this repair yourself you can save the set and a lot of money---most shops charge 300-400 for this type of repair in this set.

You can buy both chips for about 14 dollars on Ebay- and I have step by step---start to finish instructions for this repair in this set--they tell also everything you will need to do and what you need.

If you want the instructions let me know---I am not allowed to post MY email here.....but you.....

Not everyone can do this repair---Let me know if you have any questions or need advice----

If you get someone else to do the repair make sure BOTH chips get replaced or the set will have the same problem again in a few months.

My 65 inch Mitsibishi rear projection lost the red when viewing Cable, but the red works when viewing dvd's or playing games. Is it the red color tube or somthing less sinister?

Okay - lets' verify a couple of things -
1) how do you have cable connected - through -
A) Cable box or
B) no Cable box and the RF Coaxial Cable directly connected into the Rear Projection RF input connector.

\What I believe is that you have possibly a Component cable 'Red - Green - Blue' that is hooked up between your cable box and your TV.
Now the issue is that the Red connection isn't pushed in all the way on either the TV or the Cable box.
Let me know.

Mitsubishi Diamond Series T.V.

When a tv (Rear proyection) shows this coloration is the meanning that the red color is not there (the red color is generated by a red CRT). Now it can be really bad not having the tube working but before conclution make sure of this: (and if the red color gets back then the tube is ok)
  • is this condition the same in all inputs? or the picture looks ok with a different video source (VCR, DVD other)
  • are the menu letters same as the picture looks or are they fine?
If we cannot see any red color back with this testing, still chances that a technician find an electronic problem that make the tube to be off. so don't rush conclusions and get to the end to save the tv with out replacing the red tube, but if all was done and nothing then the tv needs the tube replacing.

Big screen showing double and red ghost color

Go into your service menu and try to adjust the convergence, if it does not adjust, the IC's ( chips) are bad in that circuit. Call a local factory authorized dealer to service your tv. The cost should run around $450.00. Good luck.

Sony 65 Inch Projection TV Color Red Green Separation

Sounds like a convergence issue. Call Sony for an ASC that can come out and give you an estimate. You are probably looking at $200-400 to do the repair.

Convergence Problem?

Convergence problems are what you have possibly a pincushion error. Either way if you have to have a repair shop do the repair, you should look at replacing the old TV.
