This is the 10th l post my problem, l´m in europe with my sidekick lx, phone works properly, but l can not go into the internet, a screen appears with you have to be connected to the datasevices. The provider says that the problem is in the phone, and you say it´s the provider. Please l need a solution, l have spend a lot of money already and l still have the problem unsolved.

    We bought the sidekick lx and unlocked it to put Vodafone spain, all APN settings, and gprs are correct, the problem is in the phone, l´ve consulted you for many times already and never get a satisfying answer. L have it resetted, and there are two dots apearing and the message "you must be conected to the data service to vieuw the windows live mobile terms". Please help me.

    Hi, thank you, l did as you told, but customers care told me it was imposible to unlock a sidekick from tmobile, and that they were not function out of the US. But, the fact is that l was able to unlock it and l can even call and send txt. So, they were not very willing to help. Meanwhile, we can still not get online with the phone, But thanks, as it seems, you know where you are talking about. Geraldine

I am sorry that you have been unable to connect to the internet with your Sidekick. I am sure that you got many recommendations of how to fix it but none of that helped me when I was on the move. I lost my use of my unit and after battling with customer service I found out that they had a big mishaps in the service and many lost their data and to this day they still working on it.
Based on my experience and before you go through too much effort in getting your phone unlocked there a few things you should know. T-Mobile does not have a way to unlock Sidekick devices.
Furthermore, your Sidekick is accepting the sim, it sounds like the Sidekick is somehow already unlocked. Otherwise, you wouldn't even be able to make calls or do text messaging. You would simply get sim card errors.
I did the followings first
1.Powercycle=turning the phone off for 30sec-1min, then turn back on.
2.Manual network selection= scanning for all available networks and connecting to Tmobile, or an authorized roaming partner.
3. Check other tmobile phones, does your friend have service and you dont??? Try your sim card in a their phone or a different tmobile phone. This will show you if your phone is causing the problem, or if it may be something with your sim card or network!!
If you have a Sidekick LX or a T-Mobile Sidekick (2008), please check your software version.
Sidekick LX:
With the current known issue, you must have the following software versions to download games and applications:
· Sidekick LX - 4.6/231400
· T-Mobile Sidekick (2008) - 4.7/231400
Finally I was told that some units were damaged from the outage and I was able to take my unit and replace it with new one and get a credit for the time I missed.
I hope some of this may help you but do not call tech support again you will not get any answers as they do not know what is going on…just take it back and replace it if you can…good luck

Anytime you unlock a phone your are taking the risk of running into any number of issues. In a lot of cases you will not be able to access the internet on an unlocked phone this may be why the carrier is blaming your phone. Unfortunately is something you have to live with or get a different carrier that supports the phone, or get a better phone. thank you, Lee

Hi there,

Try to get your friend chip from the phone, then try with that one , if it working then it is the provider, if it still not working and it was working with your friends phone then it is your phone that is not compatible.

Your internet service is got blocked by the service center.if the phone is faulty it will show up any error message on the phone display screen.and things like this always happen..whenever weird things like this happen just call the tmobile customer care, and they always solve the problem.
you can call customer care back and ask them to use it or log on to www.my.t-mobile.com and add it your self. that's the only way sidekick features are going to work.

T-Mobile Example of what to do part 1 of 2

No Data Connection Sidekick One Dot
Your Sidekick has a phone icon or 1 dot swirling around in a circle at the top right corner of the screen. You may or may not be able to make calls or use text messaging.

  1. Be certain that you have an active Sidekick Data feature on your T-Mobile account. You can log in to www.t-mobile.com to see what features you have on your account, or contact us.
    • If you have an active Sidekick Data feature on your account, proceed to step 2.
  2. Soft reset the device.
    • Press the @ + 1 + 0 keys at the same time (Press and hold the @ button, the number ONE button, and the number Zero button all at the same time. Then, release them.)
  3. If the above steps do not resolve your issue, please contact us.
No Data Connection Sidekick Two Dots
Your Sidekick has no data connection. It displays two dots swirling around in a circle at the top right corner of the screen. You are able make phone calls and use text messaging. However, data services like picture messaging, web browsing, and email are not working.
  1. Be certain that you have an active Sidekick Data feature on your T-Mobile account. You can log in to www.t-mobile.com to see what features you have on your account, or contact us.
    • If you have an active Sidekick Data feature on your account, proceed to step 2.
  2. Soft reset the device.
    • Press the @ + 1 + 0 keys at the same time (Press and hold the @ button, the number ONE button, and the number Zero button all at the same time. Then, release them.)
    • The device will appear to turn off and then turn back on by itself. If the problem persist, continue with step 3.
  3. From the Jump screen (the main/home screen), Press the Menu button. The menu button is at the top left and has lines on it.
  4. From the menu that appears, select Settings.
  5. Scroll to and select Network Options.
  6. Scroll to and select Network APN.
    • The screen displays 'APN set to hiptop.t-mobile.com'.
  7. If the above message does not display, scroll to and select Change Network APN.
  8. Enter hiptop.t-mobile.com in the 'APN' window.
  9. Verify that the Username and Password text boxes both display the word dummy.
  10. Scroll to and select Set APN.
  11. Turn the on the device.
  12. Turn the off the device.
  13. If the above steps do not resolve your issue, please contact us.

        Turn off the device.

        Move to a spot that might have better signal reception. (for example, beside a window instead of in the middle of a house).

        Turn on the device.

        See if the indicators move past three dots and continue to capital G.
        • If the capital G appears, the problem is resolved.
        • If the indicators do not move past three dots, contact us

    If you have followed the Two dot instructions from #2 to 13 and it still does not work then you need to go to a Vodafone store in Spain as you are not going to resolve a conflict with Vodafone on here.

    Vodafone are mostly likely not very helpful as they do not sell Sidekicks!

You can try to reseat the lcd cable and make sure it is tight. It that fails then you will need to replace the LCD screen

No display light

It is possible that the backlight on your LCD is burned out. If you have a friend with a Sidekick LX, see if you can swap the lcd screens quickly. This will let you determine if it is the phone or the LCD screen

most wireless stores have a repair center. but usually takes time. try looking in your phonr book for wireless phone repair for a speedy fix or check out dr cell phone @ 1-877-349-7297. they have a 1-3 day turn around for repairs
