Question about Compaq Evo N610C Notebook
Hey... I need to know where the ram slots are..I dont have the manual and dont want to open it all...I had assembled desktop pcs but know nothing about laptops. Evo n610c
Actually, that is not the location of the ram on a evo n610.
the correct location is actually to the left of the touchpad.
the square piece is removable by using a very thin flathead
screwdriver underneath the fn (function key). If you look closely
there is a spot to stick in the screwdriver and pry it open.
The cover on the bottom of the laptop is actually the modem cover and access to the rtc battery. If you're interested, i have both the user manual and service manual as pdf's. They're very helpful, I learned how to reset the bios password with these. If your interested, here's my email - pdrift86 (at) yahoo (dot) com.
Just substitute the at with "@" and dot with a "."

The first reply is correct the second isnt. The hatch on the bottom is for the modem (I have just install a wireless modem in this location)
There are 2 memory slots to the left of the mouse pad. What the maximum memory is I can not tell you.

There is a square or rectangular piece on the bottom of the laptop that can be opened with a screw. if you have the extra ram, then open up the piece on the bottom, and installing the ram should be as simple as clicking it in, no force should be needed. get back to me if there is no piece to unscrew on the bottom, this model may be different than others
