On smaller Proview monitor, model 468, there is not power cord.

On the Proview 468 and possibly the PL-456s and the PZ-456if you look at the end of the VGA chord that you connect to the back of the computer right in between the two screws is a power connector for a 12 volt power supply this is for the 468 I hope this helps with your dilemma on how it gets power. I have a proview monitor PL926WBI Model 900W

It seems to be that something gets hot inside after a few minutes of operation of the monitor. So I placed a small fan so that air flows thru the monitor and that did it. What gets hot inside , I don't know.

I have Monitor Proview PL916S 900P It turns on

spc12b, Have you tried the flashlight test yet? How old is this monitor? Your monitor has a 2 types of power supplys in it. A switch-mode-power-supply and an "INVERTER" supply. One or both of them could be having a problem. The inverter needs DC from the smps to change it into AC to light up the cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes that are hung in back of the lcd panel. Let me know results of flashlight test. After screen goes black, hold light 1-2" from screen at different angles. Let me know if you still can see the win-desktop screen even though it is still dark.. Bye for now. louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

Blank screen with message "mode not supported"

Hi

How have you connected the monitor to the computer?
Is it through the vga or the dvi port?
Pls press the monitor menu button and change the mode to vga or dvi depending on the connection that you have now.
You might also get a vga to dvi adapter and connect the monitor to the computer.

Trying to install my proview monitor

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!
