I got the same problem, too. I think the cause was that the PS3 got improperly shut down. I've always turned off the power after it was in the standby state. However, this time the power was shut off while in play. Now it seems like there's nothing much I can do to fix this problem.I got the same problem, too. Have you consider to replace your hard drive?. That might be a good possibility why your PS3 can not start the way it should. Try that and see what happens.
Go to the bios setup menu to the boot option. When there, scroll down to the Hard Drive Priority area and make sure you have the boot disk listed FIRST.
remove your hard drive, power on teh console, power off the console, install the hard disk again and power again the console.
Hope this will make the system recognize the hard drive again.
