There could be a few possible reasons why your Sony ICD-BX800 IC Recorder is not turning on when you insert the batteries. Here are some possible causes and solutions:
The batteries may be drained or dead. Try replacing the batteries with new ones to see if this resolves the issue.
The batteries may not be properly seated in the battery compartment. Make sure the batteries are properly aligned and inserted according to the positive and negative markings in the battery compartment.
There may be an issue with the battery compartment itself. Make sure the battery compartment is clean and free of any debris, and try gently wiggling the batteries to ensure they are making good contact.
There may be an issue with the internal electronics of the recorder.
Hi,
I used to work for Lanier repairing all the tape machines. The sound you are referring to is feedback coming from a dirty record/playback switch.
You would need to either disassemble and clean the switch, which would take some dexterity, or replace the switch entirely, which would require good de-soldering skills and of course the replacement switch.
Unless there is some sentimental attachment to the device, I would recommend you use a digital recorder, as the cost of repairing the unit if you took it to someone would far outweigh its value.
Cheers,
Dave
Some times the battery contact need to be pulled out a little bit. they are located down inside the battery compartment. You can stick a small screwdriver under the battery contact and bend it upward for better contact. If that doesn't work try removing the back cover and tightening the grounding screw, which is a silver screw located by the motor pulley hole. Sometimes this screw loosens up and then the ground is lost to the entire unit
Go to the companies website. Many companies like Fisher Price offer replacement parts quite reasonably. Just put in the model number or name in the search bar on the companies site. If the parts are discontinued, the best place to look for replacements is ebay or craigslist. Best Wishes!
I havent found one,but it appears simple enough to operate.Martel doesnt sell this unit anymore and i havent seen any I Manuals on the web.Looks like a quality unit though
There is actually no release button on my 5000. Between the white on-off button and the bluetooth synch button there is a finger notch. If you put your index finger in the notch (pointing toward the base of the mouse you can put your nail under the lip and the batter compartment opens right up. There is a horizontal slot in the battery cover - trying to pry that open does not work. The whole thing is well-cloaked but surprisingly easy when you figure it out!
