Question about Whirlpool LER5636P Electric Dryer

2 Answers

I have a LER4634EQ1 WHIRLPOOL electric dryer. Last week it started to shut down before completing a cycle. The other day it completed the cycle but the clothes weren't dry. It also makes a loud noise when it starts up. It's 12 years old, time for a new one or is this easily fixed?

If the noise is a rumbling sound tha that would be your roller's.the other problem sounds like a bad timer.time to think,do i put that kind of money in a 12 year old dryer or get a new one.

Sure!
You may have a bad timer, that is turning off the electricity to the motor while the heater is still energized.

Long time ago, dryers had about 3 "automatic shut-off's" two on the heating element, and one on the motor.
Because of the lint that comes with drying clothes, fire is always a danger.
Today, the "thermostat shut-off's" are up to 5, 6, or 7 on some models!
Sounds like your dryer is getting hot enough to trip one of these. When the whole machine cools down, the thermostat resets, and the machine starts again.'
I had a dryer do the same thing. The problem with that one was nothing more than dust and lint in the motor, and all I had to do was vacuum out or blow out the motor about once or twice a year.
Be blessed

Whirlpool LER4634EQ1 works fine on the less dry, more dry settings, but will not work on the timed heat setting. Do we need a new timer mechanism or cycling thermostat?

Timer. Probably because that cycle is used the most; and over time the contact inside that timer gets burned up:

Our dryer starts and within 5-10 minutes it shuts down. It will not allow me to restart until it cools down and once restarted seems to complete the cycle just fine. It is a fairly new machine and we have...

The drum sencor is going bad, or the tempeture sencor around the heating element. Up plug the dryer remove the back of it by removing a few screws from the rear pannel the drum sencor will have two wires on it and it will be the size of three dimes stacked on each other. For testing ONLYremove the two wires and put them together, tape them so they don't touch any thing and plug the dryer back in and start it, if that works give me the numbers off the bad part and I'll order it.

Dryer runs but will not heat. Replaced fuse and

your cycling thermostat needs changed too. the thermal fuse is your last safety measure that goes, which means your cycling thermostat is not shutting down the heat element once it detects the right temp hot air in the blower housing so it let the heat element glow until either the high-limit sensor shuts the heat down or the thermal fuse blows. Change the cycling thermostat and good luck

Kenmore electric dryer won't start. #63841

IF THERE IS A RESTRICTION IN THE EXHAUST(LINT BUILDUP OR FOLDED FLEX ATTACHED TO THE DRYER AND PUSHED UP AGAINST THE WALL) THE DRYER WILL NOT DRY PROPERLY. IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED, A THERMAL FUSE WILL OPEN SHUTTING DOWN THE CIRCUIT TO THE MAIN MOTOR. THE THERMAL FUSE IS A SMALL WHITE OBJECT LOCATED BEHIND THE BACK PANEL DOWN BY THE EXHAUST OUTLET. THERE ARE TWO WIRES ATTACHED TO IT. IF IT IS BAD, REPLACE IT AND CHECK THE DUCT WORK FOR ANY RESTRICTIONS.

PART COST APPROX 30 DOLLARS
