maybe it is a AA battery that you are trying to put in or are installing the AAA wrong
AAA and all batteries come in standard sizes and there are no special sizes for your remote
No, there is no shipping tabs to pull or anything like that. Just put 3 AAA batteries in and turn on. The only thing on your end is maybe you are using old batteries. Batteries on the shelf can go bad. Especially for those of us that keep some stored for emergencies. If you have tried installing a fresh set of 3 AAA ALKALINE (you might try a different set than the first ones) batteries in your radios and still get no response then you will have to return them. I am suggesting new ALKALINE batteries because it is odd that both radios malfunction right out of the box.
No batteries are supplied with this radio but a NiMH upgrade was offered separately at a cost. Should you be using this make sure a real good charge is on that battery first.

Hello ksmith1171,
Please be sure that you use 2 fresh AAA batteries. Do not mix a new and used battery or use different battery types as this can cause the batteries to overheat.
The button cell backup battery keeps the memory electrically refreshed when the calculator is turned OFF. The necessary power for regular use is supplied by the 4 AAA batteries (main power). That nothing happened when you put in a fresh set of (expensive) lithium batteries may be due to the screen being too dim to see anything.
If the calculator displays RAM CLEARED each time it is turned on, it may be due to a depleted backup battery. The battery model number is CR1616 or CR1620. On my TI84PLUS the backup battery is of type 303 (Sony) or SR44SW (Maxell).
This happened with mine too. Mine is an a800 polaroid digital camera. i had some AAA batteries from an old remote control and they didnt have any juice left in them after 5 minutes. So i kept trying different AAA batteries and it wont even turn on!
How "fresh" are the batteries. Quite often they are weak, right out of the package. We revive a lot of "dead" cameras with Energizer Lithium AA batteries. Many cameras that people are ready to write-off, are resurrected with the Energizer Lithiums. I also think that battery manufacturers are not putting as much "juice" in them as they used to.
Try letting the camera set for a while with the new batteries in. I had the same problem, nothing worked after i replaced the batteries. I let it set for a couple of days and everything started working.
