24volt system draining fully charged batteries within 30 minutes down to 2 volts each and ignition doesnt turn bus off have to stall it have to remove battery to turn dash lights of has new alternator

to drain the batteries down that quick the battery cables would be very hot to the touch
if they are not then the problem may be an internal fault in the batteries so have them load tested first to eliminate them from the equation
Unless you are running a heavy vehicle then 24 volts will be very unusual as most light vehicles run 12 volts
If that is the case and you have 2 X 12 batteries make sure that they are connect correctly ( in parallel not in series) or they will discharge each other very quickly

Regular batteries die right away should I use only rechargable batteries

There is something wrong with your camera that is causing the batteries to run down quickly.
Using recharage batteries will not fix this problem as they too will run down quickly.
You need to get your camera services/repaired.

Why does the battery run down so fast????

CRV3 Lithium.

These type of batteries run out quickly, because they are basically just 2x AA Rechargable tapped together. Cameras using these kind or just AA batteries run out quickly and don't last so long. Its always on and running as long as the connectors are touching (Positive and Negative) conductors.

Take out the batteries when not in use
If you have the budget, buy a new camera; stay away from these type of battery cameras
-Price ranges from 100USD-1,000+USD

Good luck, and rate my response.

Batteries run down in a little over half a day in my new uniden BC72XLT scanner, is it batteries, charger or scanner?

its most likely the scanner. i had one that used up batteries pretty quick. my advice would be to get rechargeables, and get 2 sets of batteries so when one set runs down you can put the fresh set in the scanner

Lens does not always open, batteries run down quickly

the 520's are notorious for lens opening issues... I've had a few and any dirt or moisture in the lens shutters, and they'll get screwy.
Clean dirt with a little compressed air...not high pressure...
Batteries... set the resolution a bit lower, avoid alot of flash and zoom and you'll get better battery life... it's part the 520...carry spare alkalines.. always..

Mouse switch off

On most mice, you cannot shut the power off to them without removing the batteries and they will run down rather quickly. There is really nothing you can do unless you buy a mouse with a shutoff switch like my Logitech or use rechargeable batteries or just shut the computer down. Sorry.
