B-CRT is just asking for a new black cartridge, fax will not print until it's replaced so you don't get a partial fax that you can't get back after printing.

The fax maching is neither allowing to receive or send faxes....it keeps putting up a message that says recommend new B-CRT....don't know what that is and it looks to be plugged in properly

Here is a link to Canon for your Pixma MX310 Users Guide. The file needs to be downloaded and then installed. Look under Replacing a Fine cartridge for suggestions to correct this issue.

"Recommend new C-CRT" appears on the LCD

C-CRT means to replace color ink cart. because it is low on ink or is out.

B-CRT means the same thing, but regards to the black ink cart.
Press menu button, then go to fax settings, then go to memory reference. Then go to memory list, and hit OK...this will give you a list of everything stored in memory. Then to print each document in the memory, go to print document in the memory reference submenu. Then enter the TX/RX No listed on the memory list.

if that doesnt help.... contact canon at the earliest.....
thank you for using fixya...

Hi, I got a message: received in memory - recommend new b-crt

The b-crt is the black ink cartridge, when you put in a new one, it will print the fax for you.

Problem with faxing

Goi to

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15603

put "recommend a new c-crt" in the question box. Select the ERROR LCD: RECOMMEND NEW C-CRT answer and follow the instructions to clear the cyan cartridge error. This should take care of the problem. Let me know if this doesn't work. Thanks.

Can't send fax on Canon pixma mx310

There are two buttons on the MX310... one for colour and one for black & white.. Depending on which mode you're using (ie: copy, fax, etc..) these buttons will copy, fax, etc...in either colour or black & white accordingly.

These buttons are located on the far right of the control panel with colour closest to the user, black & white above that and then the stop button above and right.

To fax in black & white (or mono as it's otherwise called) just choose the Fax mod, then press the Black button and you're away...

Hope that helps.
