Whenever i tried to open message folder phone gets hanged & it does not work.

Re-install the firmware. Sometimes due to old version of the firmware too, the device starts hanging.

remove your sim card. try using different sim card just to open the phone. then set the default storage for the messages to the memory card. then return your original sim card. when you open inbox you will notice all messages is gone. then set again the default storage of messages to the sim card to bring back your messages.

The phone is hanging up with the games folders because there are errors in the software. So to reset remove the battery and the memory card from the phone. Using your PC , scan the memory card for any corrupt files or media files with virus- it is possible when they are downloaded from unsafe sites. If so remove or format the card. Now replace the card and battery and switch on the phone. If the phone hangs up then it is confirmed that the software is corrupt and will need a reinstallation as an update may not help. Seeking help from the authorized service /support centre is most ideal. Take estimate and decide.

I had a similar problem few months ago. Whenever i try to open my inbox the phone restarts. I connected the phone to a Computer with a nokia PC suite. Then i opened the messages folder in the PC suite on my computer. I could see 2-3 messages with Chinese characters in them. But without taking any risk i deleted all the messages from my phone using the Nokia PC suite. My problem was solved. Try doing it...hope this will help..

Try deleting the application from your phone, then re-installing it, but make sure its a format thats compatable with your phone.

you can master clear the system by pressing *#7370# if this does not help then try having the phone's firmware reflash this will help.
