Have you replaced the battery with a new SR44 yet to try and fix it? You can also try a far cheaper LR44 but the meter readings won't be accurate.

Clean the battery cap and contacts with a pencil eraser including the cap threads.
there are no new parts available for this model Pentax, so a good used part repair could be expensive.
An inexpensive hand held light meter might be the way to go if the cleaning did not work, and the camera is otherwise working good.

Can you usePentax k1000 or me super film caamera lens on a Pentax ditigal camera?

Yes, with limitations. The lenses will fit on any Pentax (now Ricoh) digital SLR. You may lose autofocus and/or auto exposure metering.

The light meter is not working on my Pentax K1000

there are three different possibilities. remove three screws, take off bottom cover. remove three screws of battery holder, lift to see if the battery wire has corroded or broken off. solve by extending wire and resoldering. the next involves removing the top cover to see if the meter coil is dead,if this is the case it needs to be replaced, or there is a broken lead somewhere. usually it is cause no. 1.

Light meter underexposed

The K1000 were designed to use Mercury batteries. After those were banned in the USA folks moved to other types of batteries as in Alkaline, those start out strong, then fade fast. This change in voltage causes errant light meter readings. Batteries I use in my K1000, K1000 SE, and K2 are Silver Oxide 357/303 1.55 volt 0% Hg, by Energizer. Use any brand you want.

I recently dropped my Pentax K1000....oops! The only damage I noticed was a small dent in the metal side of the lens....hardly even noticeable. But now, the focus isn't working, and the light meter doesn't...

Unfortunately, this is a serious problem.

If the focus ring is not working then there is serious damage inside the lens. This cannot be repaired easily and must be taken in for repair.

As for the light meter, this is slightly more worrying as it is damage inside the body. It could be something as simple as the battery contact. But it could also be somehting more serious.

I would recommend taking it for repair.

If repair turns out to be too expensive I suggest you have a look on ebay. Pentax cameras are available with a wide range of prices and so are compatible lenses. A good upgrade would be a Pentax MX or even an LX if you can afford it. The ME super is also an excellent model if you want soemthing simpler.

All images on my slr digital camera are very light almost non existent picture

have you checked your exposure and aperture? To high an exposure or too large and aperature can affect the picture quality. I have a model like this I think. When you look in the view finder, there is a meter with a meter that, if the batteries are good, should move up when there is too much light, and down when there's not enough. If you can get that meter to the middle, you'll be OK. The closer to the middle that needle is, the better the quality. :)

I took 4 rolls of film in for development but when I got them back all of them were either very under or overexposed despite taking all the pictures according to the light meter in the viewfinder of my...

Are you looking at the picture as in a print OR are you holding the negative up to the light and looking at it that way. Don't touch the negatives, they should be in a protective sleeve but you can see through it. You should be able to see if the spacing between the frames is messed up and if you have lighter and darker negatives. Looking at a print from an automated one hour service isn't worth the time of day to determine a problem. The Pentax K1000 is the work horse of the century for students learning photography and a lot of them have seen extensive use, also the camera is quite old. What I expect is if the negatives are showing overlapping frames AND the exposure is off sometimes over and other times underexposed then the camera needs service lubrication and adjustment. It's great that the light meter is working but the shutter speed could be off and the advance is skipping giving the overlap. I don't know where you are in this world but in Canada that's a $80.00 to $120.00 fix and have the repair person change the light seals while he/she has it apart.
The Pentax K1000 is still a great camera it's up to you whether or not to spend the money. I can't tell you what to do but I can suggest that if you are going to shoot film you find some place that does it with a little more human touch. Hope this was a help

The light meter has failed.

You can usually get it repaired (it's even possible to do so on a DIY basis if you're fairly handy, just search "k1000 meter repair", click here for one immediate possible fix), but it may be cheaper and easier to obtain a handheld light meter instead.

If you do get it repaired then at the same time get a full CLA service (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust) and have the gooey foam light seals replaced. Some repairers may try to charge extra for the latter one-off job, but usually do it for free when you smile and politely point out that you can take your business elsewhere.

Although simple and very basic, a good clean K1000 in a freshly serviced and fully functional condition is one of the only Pentax 35mm SLR's which is still worth reasonable money simply due to high demand for them. If you choose to keep it then it should be good for many more years of flawless service.

I hope that I've helped, please rate my answer.

Exposure needle not working

clean the battery cover and contact with a pencil eraser making sure the cap threads are also clean.
this is a fairly expensive repair if the meter or circuit board needs replacing ( no new parts are available ).
if the meter still does not work, and the K1000 is in good working order buy a inexpensive hand held light meter.

Will no longer recognize 4gb sd cards

are you sure the camera is a Pentax K1000.
the K1000 is a manual 35mm film camera, the only electronics in it are for the light meter. plus a circuit for the flash connections.
