What do you mean "main power fuse"? Are you referring to the house breaker, or the fuse inside the TV?
Forgive me, I forget to check the "Clarification Request" button.
Alright, this means there is something in your TV thats drawing excessive current. You can check to see whether its on the hot or cold side of the board by unplugging ribbon cables. I would unplug the cables going to the lighting first, those boards normally have alot of issues.

Sorry I should have been a little more clear, the fuse is in the TV soldered to the circuit board just after the main power plug.
I have tried turning it on after disconnecting the other cables which isolated the power supply and it blew the fuse again.
I would assume there is something wrong with the power supply board itself.
I have traced the problem down to a couple of items. First I have a bad MOSFET which I am going to replace. The second item is a "metal protector" which when I search for it on Google tells me it is a surge arrestor.
The problem I have now is that I cannot find one to replace it.
I am wondering what would happen if I just remove it and add a jumper? I was thinking that were it will be plugged into a surge protection power bar that this would protect it?
Any thoughts?
