Memory Card Locked

I have the Canon Powershot SD1000. It's never given me any issues the entire time I've had it until now. I was using the camera fine for a long time - it was taking pictures and I was able to view them but when I turned it off and went to turn it back on - the camera was saying 'memory card locked' preventing me from viewing my pictures and from taking new pictures. I tried to load the pictures onto my computer and it was saying nothing was found. I checked the memory card and it's actually not locked and I tried a different memory card and that seems to work fine. Is there anyway to fix this or recover the pictures that may be lost!?

exactly the same problem.... almost 2GB of pictures and video are now inaccessible. I've tried toggling the lock switch on the card a few times, didn't help. I'll get a new card but I'd like to be able to get to all those pictures.

Same problem. Camera shows "card locked" which it is not . Tried several other cards with same result. Thought this was supposed to be a quality camera.

I too had the same problem where the camera said card locked. I put in a new card and it worked fine, so I figured it had to be the card itself and not the camera..The card has a small slide button on the side that I just slid up and presto, the card works fine. With the card faceing up, the slide is on the left side. I am now able to see and take pictures.

Ensure that the battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged and the problem continues, export all the photos to a computer and format the memory card.
If there is an issue with the memory card, formatting may resolve the issue.

On my camera it says card locked how to i get rid of that

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

My Canon Powershot sd1000 is locked up. It turns on but will not take pics and I cannot view images. It is locked on one picture.

Check the lock switch on the side of the memory card. That is usually what causes the situation you are describing. It may have moved to the locked position accidently

Memory card is locked w. Canon Powershot SD1000

Your Sd1100 is compatible with a 4gb card, so that's not the issue. If the lock-switch is in the correct position, the only logical conclusion (which you have already come to.....good troubleshooting on your part!) is that the camera is busted. Send your two "friends" the bill. What a drag.

Canon sd1000 card locked

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Card locked

Have you tried looking at the memory card? Sometimes there is a switch on the card itself that slides up and down to lock, or unlock the card for usage. Hope this helps! (It should be white, and a semi-translucent plastic.)

Camera will not power on with a memory card installed.

1. Try another memory card and contact the memory card manufacturer 2. The PowerShot SD630 requires repair service.

Unidentified Images.

I would try formating the card using the camera (menu - setup - format) - THIS WILL ERASE ALL THE PICTURES YOU CURRENTLY HAVE ON YOUR CARD, so before you do this you may want to get a memory card reader and transfer the pictures (click and drag) to your computer. As to using the 4GB will have to check with canon if a card that size if compatable. Not all cameras work with SD cards larger than 2GB.
