I turned it on and got a very dark picture so I turned it off. Now I don't get any picture and it just keeps whining. What is the deal?

Seems like either the bulb or the color wheel may have problem. To check both the lamp and wheel requires opening the front panel. Let me know if you need more info......

Weird Noise

The whine is likely the power steering pump. If the fans didn't work the engine would overheat, so I assume the fans are working as designed, keep in mind they don't come on until about 220F

Please could you advise or help me obtain a full service manual for Samsung LCD 37" TV model no:LE37M87BDX/XEU

If you let us know what's wrong with the TV, we may have a solution, rather than have you taking stabs in the dark about what's wrong.
I mean if it's not turning on, whining, or turns off 3 seconds after being turned on, or just clicks if you try to turn it on, or there is sound but no picture...chances are we already have the solution.
Tell us what's wrong with it, and we'll see what we can do!

Noticable flickering when viewing dark images.

Hello, I too experience this exact same problem. In my opinion, any television under 2 grand is probably going to have some slight imperfection as this; I have tried a few different ones myself. To some, it would appear to only be a minor annoyance, but to those who truly can distinguish a good quality picture between a bad one, or to those people, such as myself, who would find something like this to be unacceptable, this is a disheartening situation.
My friend, I have tried many different settings to see which ones might resolve this issue with the blacks in the picture, or at least reduce it to a barely noticeable level and I have found that when I select the CUSTOM picture mode, reduce the contrast to about 60, turn up the brightness to 62, turn OFF blur reduction,x/v/ color on, CATS on, MPEG NR ON, turn Dark level to LIGHT(this is important) add a little bit of extra color for ex. 52, and sharpness to 75, that this produces a pleasing to the eye performance when watching blu ray movies and dvd's. The flickering is reduced to almost nothing, and the picture quality actually appears sharper and more ethereal in certain ways.
The downside to this is that you are lacking some true depth in the picture's darks, but after your eyes adjust and you are watching a good quality movie, you will notice that there still sort of is enough darks there to compensate. Further fine tuning may produce even better results, jsut have to keep playing around with it. But I am now convinced after hearing somebody come forward with the same exact problem i'm having on the same tv, that it is not a defect but just an imperfection that you sometimes have to deal with when you don't spend like 5 grand on a tv. Good luck and happy viewing!

High pitched noise from fuel pump

With 80K, best to replace. When the pump gets warm the metal pump housing expands and increases tolerances to create the "whine"

Hln43w. Screen went dark. 3 lights on front flashed, and TC emitted a high pitch whine. Replaced lamp. 3 lights no longer flash, but whine is still present and screen is still dark.

if there anything like commercial flourescent cieling lights, there is a unit called a ballast which may be responsible for the symptoms you are observing.
