Question about Jenn-Air JGC8430 Gas Cooktop

All cook top burners spark when any is turned on

Jenn-Air JGC8430 Gas Cooktop...all cook top burners continually spark when any is turned on. All burners will light and stay lit but sparking continues on all burners no matter which one(s) are turned on This jenn air cooktop was installed yesterday. I am thinking it would be best to take it back and get another one.

sparks are from each burners ignitor. I was told by Jenn air that there is a common ignitor for all four burners. They had no reason for them to continue to ignite after any or all burners are lit. They ask if it had been wet. the box it came in showed no sign of water damage. cooktop is dry. I think I agree that it may be a fire hazard and unless I hear something new< I will take it back this afternoon.

OK, the best action is to call for service, if the unit was just installed, and purchased. This unit should be covered at this time, by the manufactures warranty, or store 30 day warranty. This repair should be free. The culprit will be a faulty spark ignition switch, and module. Testing is required. Once this switch, or(module), is replaced, the unit will operate correctly.

If service is not an option, i would recommend to return this unit. the module(spark), is defective.

One of burners can not ignite only having clicking sound.

First you need to brush out the end tip of the sparking electrode and the burner metal part facing the electrode so they can create a spark. If not any result the you should remove electrode and check if the ceramic cover is broken and the sparking goes in wrong way and you will need to replace it.

Jenn-Air Cocktop JGC8430 - Front-Right burner (FRB)will not turn on. Remaining burners are working. I can see FRB ignite post arc when any of the remaining burner are started.

Look for clogged arifice holl,or rusty burner,clea burner and holl.

Have a 2008 jenn-air gas cooktop with 4 burners and want to change the white speckled glass top to a stainsteel top can I find a place to order this or can I have it painted under the glass

you can get it paint but the company which u buy u can fet a new top

No wattage given with electrical requirements for gas cook top

A gas range requires minimal electric current. "Any ole" circuit will do.

Spark module will not stop after lighting burner

The module might not sense the flame: check electrical connections: wire (and its contacts0 and conections by fryer chasis; to be sure please bond with 18AWG wire pilot burner with spark module green wire.

Bad ignitor needs replacement

it may just need cleaning at where it sparks to the burner if it is sparking back down the electrode then it is cracked . Some igniters pull out others have a screw that holds them in.

thanks for the question yes some stoves do this and its normal when the burner you selected lights turn to low or hi the igniter will stop they do this to save on igniter modules thanks the appliance doc
