Hi, I'm using Hitachi SimpleDrive 320GB but keep having problem to organise my file. Whenever I want to move existing files/folders to a new folder (by dragging them), there'll be an error message appears: 'Error moving file or folder. Cannot move file. Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.' I'm puzzled as the files I want to move are not in use. Does anyone have any solution for this problem? Please...:(
The problem may be that your Security settings for the drive are not configured to give you Full Control.
In Explorer, right-click on the Hitachi drive and choose Properties.
Go to the Security tab.
Find the User you are trying to use and click on it.
Under Permissions, click Edit and enable Full Control for that user.
That should give you the ability to do what you need to.
If Windows won't allow you to change the setting, it's because you don't have Administrator priviledges. In that case, log out and log back in as an Administrator and go back and make the changes.

Hi Iserni,
Thanks for your prompt reply...hope this answers your questions...
Q1:What kind of files?
Words, Excels, JPEGs & PDFs..
Q2:Which OS?
I've tried with Vista and XP but it didn't work on both.
Q3:Is the drive formatted as NTFS, FAT32 or what else?
It's NTFS.
I'm not sure of what might cause the problem. Has it got to do with the 'security properties' of the harddrive?
Thanks! I've learn a lot in just 2 days!:)
Yes, that was one possibility and also the right one, as you already know :-) -- another possibility for large images and video file, for example, could have been that there was indeed a process accessing the file: the "thumbnail generator" in Explorer. You can't move a multimedia file until its thumbnail has been updated. There are also more esoteric problems (for example, if you had problems with Open Office documents).
What kind of files and which OS? Some files may give problems depending on your configuration. Also, is the drive formatted as NTFS, FAT32 or what else?
