Ensure that your ribbon is not popping off. Push ribbon onto sprockets This problem is usually caused by the ribbon protruding into the holes in the cardboard core. Use a sharp knife and cut away excess ribbon. You could verify this by removing the ribbon & re-printng a batch of labels (change driver settings to direct thermal mode)

Usually this is a sensor problem. The printer is not recognizing that the labels are moving through. Remove the labels and blow out the interior with clean air. That may resolve the problem. Dust can accumulate on the sensors and cause this.

Please update this if that does not resolve the problem.

Thanks,
Dan

My printer says "check supplies". I try feeding the label, almost as if the sensor won't recognize the gap and stops feeding halfway on the label then error light comes on

you may =have to do a sensor calibration or it may just be that you need to adjust the sensor to the label.
2 types of labels GAP which i a space between the two labels ( they don't touch each other or knotch labels touch each other but there is a small open gap all the way to the Left of the Labels. If GAP move the Green sensor Bar to the middle of Labels.
If Knotched move to the LEft where the gap is, hit Feed button it should move one label at a time you may have to adjust slightly

My Zebra ZDesigner LP2844 feeds a blank label after printing a label. How do I make it stop doing that?

Define your label size correctly. Measure your LABEL exactly, do not include the backing paper or the gap. Calibrate the printer. HOW?
Power off printer. Press and hold the green feed button down and power printer on. Count one, two and release green button. The printer will calibrate and move labels and then print some stuff on the label. Wait until it has comletely stopped. wait another few seconds and the press the feed key once. The printer will print "out of dump". You should now be ready to print again.

It begins to print then stops half way

Having the same problem here... very random... send a print job of labels and it will print the whole lot, or freeze at random points but always halfway through a label... no error message... unplug usb and replug doesnt do anything, but unplug and replug power and off it goes printing more lables but may even freeze again after only a few more have come out... also, every day the first print job of the day prints half the label and pauses for about 10 seconds then keeps going...

- Windows XP Pro SP3
- LabelWriter 400 as supplied out of the box
- Genuine DYMO labels

Everytime I print a label it stops short of the

This is an easy printer to fix since there is only one control button. Turn the printer off. Hold the green feed key down while turning the printer on; once the red light begins flashing, let go of the feed button. This will do three things: the printer will calibrate with the installed media, it will print a configuration label and the printer will go into dump mode. Press the feed key again. One more label will come out with with the words "Out of Dump" printed at the top. If the printer still fails to print, remove the ribbon and try the same procedure with direct thermal labels (UPS or FedEx). From there, consult the manual for more troubleshooting tips.

Prints only part of label

Fixed problem. Labels were too thin so LED was still being detected to stop progress of labels. Fixed by sticking some backing paper over the sensor and seems to be working fine.

TLP2848Z blinking red, will not print

1: Is it a TLP2844 or a TLP2844Z.

Operationally they are completely different printers. TLP2844 uses ELP (Eltron Programming Language. but TLP2844Z uses ZPL (Zebra Programming Language). You need to calibrate the printer to the labels.

Calibration:
If its a TLP2844. Load media. Connect power.
Hold down feed key, power on, count one, two, release feed key. The printer will go through a calibtation routine and print config label. IMPORTANT - When it prints this label you must press the feed key and see the message OUT OF DUMP. Your printer will now be calibrated. Check this by hitting the feed key a few times and printer will feed one label each time feed is hit.

Calibration:
If its a TLP2844z.

Load media. Turn printer on and wait for green light (Approx 1 minute)
Press feed key and keep it pressed until green light blinks once, then twice, now release feed key.

Zebra 2824 red light

Hold the feed button while turning on the printer. After a config label prints, turn the printer off and then on again, and try printing again.

Also, make sure the lid is closed far enough to engage the lid sensor. If the red light comes on again, press down a bit on the lid, hit the feed button and try to print again.

Zebra LP 2824

the error you are getting is a label size error. a label variance of as little as 1/203th of an inch can cause this.

you need to recalibrate the printer to the media, hold feed when powering up the printer letting go once the light flashes 4 times. this will force the printer to autodetect the label size.

if you are specifying the label size in you software or driver settings, measure and double check the label size
