I put new batteries in my samsung S500, hit the power button and the lens came out and the camer does not work. I push the power button again and the green light flashes a couple of times and shuts off. Broderick S.

that is a problem for the tecs at samsung, you will need to send it in for repair.

just keep turning it on and off, it'll work (I think)

Put in fresh batteries in your camera and try to power on. If this didn't work, to do this little trick:

1. Hold the camera on your right hand with the lens facing the ground.

2. As you press the power on button, tap or hit the camera's base to your left palm. Do this several times.

Chances are, there could be a sand or granule of dust that got stuck on the sides of the lens, preventing it to retract properly.

Mine got stuck with lens out. The batteries were new so I never imagined it could be the batteries, but they were cheap ones so I recharged a pair of good ones and once I put tried them on it worked just fine again. Conclusion, the "new" cheap batteries had only enough energy to turn it on and then they couldn't give it enough energy to make it work anymore and that's why I couldn't retract the lens or even turn it off properly. So in your case, try using a couple of good and new batteries.

If the Olympus is using the exact same batteries as the Canon, there is a high chance that the problem is with the batteries.

i dropped mine.
and the lens was stuck and it made those sounds.
we messed around with it
and kept opening and closing it.
and after about it an hour.
it just started working again.

General system failure- Contact Samsung for repair cost.

assume lens has been . . . dropped ( typical ) but cost of new lens nearly same as new camera ; as last ditch effort ' coax ' your lens out with very gentle ! rocking action - may work one more time , or will start working again ( good luck ) ;
