D2d recovery i cannot run d2d recovery from aspire 5610 4648. I have tried to press alt+F10 during boot up screen, but it doesn't work. Also i couldn't find acer erecovery management in acer empowering management. Any idea how to run d2d recovery, or how to copy from its hidden partition? I wiped my hdd but i have acer recovery dvds that i burned with e-recovery.When i am trying to restore my system with these disks nothing happens.Only a black screen says "Display error:string module not found".How can i recover my system and install e-recovery without saying not d2d system,e-recovery cannot install. Thanks in advance

    Hi!
My problem is: I had an Acer laptop, with Empower Tech. programs on it, also E-LOCK. I used it often, for some secret files to hide. One day my laptop just died. The HDD is ok, since I can use with USB HDD "box" on another laptop. Everything can be found, exept the hidden files. I tried to download Emp.T. SW to the new laptop (also ACER) and the E-lock is also set, working, but it wont open the hidden files which is on the HDD (connected with USB). Any idea how to get back stuff? Thank you in advance!

Is the d2d erecovery function enabled in the bios?

To check, activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during the POST; while the notebook PC logo is being displayed.

To enable D2D recovery ard disk recovery), select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen.

Find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the <F5> and <F6> keys to set this value to Enabled.

That should allow you to use the F10 function key to activate D2D.
* Note: D2D e-recovery is not in Acer Empowering Management.
AEM is a power management utility that supports ACPI (advanced configuration and power interface) which allows for maximum power conservation and maximum performance. (Managed by the windows OS)

It the eisa partition is still there on your harddrive, use a program like winhex to access it. among the files there is a file to fix the boot. problem is when you install a non acer boot that the d2d recovery doesnt work. I have done this on 2 different acer computers.

when you make your recovery disks and burn your drivers disk, the eisa partition will be deleted by the system to free up the space..

Hi there
You want to restore your computer to its original settings without
recovery CDs?
This recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your C: drive. (Your C: drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased.) It is important to back up all data files before using this option.
Before performing a restore operation, please check the BIOS settings.
1 To activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during boot up.
2 Check to see if Acer disk-to-disk recovery is enabled or not.
3 Make sure the D2D Recovery setting in Main is Enabled.
4 Exit the BIOS utility and save changes. The system will reboot.
To start the recovery process:
1 Restart the system.
2 While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3 Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Good luck and Merry Christams

Factory reset for Aspire one without disk and alt + F10 doesnt work

The disk-to-disk recovery may be disabled preventing the Alt + F10 key sequence running eRecovery. To enable disk-to-disk recovery, you must do the following... (do not have an external monitor attached)
1. activate the BIOS utility by pressing F2 during Power On System Test (while Acer logo displayed)
2. select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen
3. find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use F5 and F6 keys to set this value to Enabled
4. exit the BIOS utility and save changes.
The system will reboot.
5. while the Acer logo is showing, press the Alt key and the F10 key at the same time repeatedly
6. wait as Acer eRecovery starts up then follow onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Alternatively to the above, if Windows can be accessed, the recovery can be done by launching Acer eRecovery Management by running the program from the Acer Empowering Technology program group in the Start menu.

I need a acer aspire one happy recovery disk

The Acer Aspire One Netbook has a hidden partition on its hard disk drive which allows recovery of
1. operating system to original factory image (with no recovery disk required)
2. applications (selectable)
3. drivers (selectable)
If the netbook came with pre-installed Windows XP, use Acer eRecovery Management by
1. pressing start button at bottom left corner of Taskbar
2. hover cursor over All Programs then Acer Empowering Technology
3. then click on Acer eRecovery Management and follow subsequent recovery instructions
Alternatively, on powering up, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.
If this doesn't work, there is the possibility that the D2D recovery is not enabled for startup.
To enable D2D recovery,
1. press F2 on powering up to get into the startup utility
2. cursor over to the Main tab
3. cursor down to D2D and enable it.
4. save changes when exiting - system will reboot
5. again, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.

Press Alt and tap F10 only when the acer screen appears.

If this does not work and open the recovery program then is it possible that you formated over the driver and partition when you loaded XP?

If not the make sure that D2D recovery is enabled in the bios settings. You can check this by pressing F2 on boot and going into bios.
