I have had the same problem on my gateway plasma for a year now. My 2nd TV just started to show similar defects on the screen. I can never get a straight answer as to what causes this problem yet it is a very common defect on these tv models (gateway) most accurate answer I got from gateway was that it is better to buy a new one.

Hi. I am having the very same problem, about a month ago my 42 inch gateway plasma tv has shown a 2 inch black line towards the left hand side of the TV. It is definitely a defect i think and i have heard of this before in other flat screen tvs as it being a tube problem. Also, whenever a graphic shows online it buzzes or hums.
