Here is the cartridge you need to buy: http://www.turntableneedles.com/Pfanstiehl-P-188-Ceramic-Cartridge-for-Yorx-Crosley-Nostalgics-CZ800-etc_p_1760.html
You lift the tone arm by hand and as you put it over the record it should start turning automatically. Generic remotes {Target, K-Mart, etc} have a listing on the package that will tell you what it will work. Seek and you shall find {^;^}
Usually there is a belt that drives the turntable. Sometimes it is hidden under the turntable and you lift the rubber record pad to access it. They fall off or deteriorate causing these problems.
There's one way to check the motor. Take it out and connect a battery (if it's over 9 volts a PP9 should do it.) if it don't turn it's dead!
Then try CPC online parts people.
You didn't mention which Autorama unit you have. I will assume it is the one with the CD player, as this is the only one with a remote control. After going through the service manual and user manual, I see no option - other than on the remote - for a PHONO switch option (not a very smart design).
Not sure if you've found a solution, but if you have not, then I would suggest contacting Crosley Radios for support on this - you might get a free remote from them:

Hope this helps some.
