If you aren't comfortable doing this, you should seek the help of a qualified computer professional to assist. Click the "Start" button, click the "Run" option and then type "regedit" and click the "OK" button.

Use the navigation pane on the left side of the window to navigate to the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Select the "UpperFilters" key in the right side of the window, then click the "Edit" button and then click the "Delete" option.

Click "Yes" to confirm the deletion.

Click the "LowerFilters" key, then select the "Edit" button and choose the "Delete" option again. Click "Yes" to confirm the deletion.

Close the Registry Editor window and restart the computer to finish applying the settings that should fix the Code 19 error.

4 Click the "LowerFilters" key, then select the "Edit" button and choose the "Delete" option again. Click confirm the deletion.

5 Close the Registry Editor window and restart the computer to finish applying the settings that should fix the Code 19 error.

How To Fix Registry Code 19 Errors


The Code 19 registry error is caused by a system hardware failure. The failure occurs because the computer is trying to use two drivers for the same device on the computer. When you try to boot your computer, you will get a Code 19 error message that will lock you out of the computer. You can resolve this error by using the Safe Mode option


Instructions

1. Start your computer and then press the "F8" key while it is starting up. This will take you to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. Scroll down to the "Safe Mode" option with the arrow keys on your keyboard.

2 Press the "Enter" key and wait for the computer to boot into Safe Mode. This should take about 45 seconds to complete. Click the "Start" button when the computer has booted and then click the "Run" box.

3 Type "Regedit" into the run box and press the "Enter" button. This will start your registry checker tool. Wait for the registry checker tool to complete the scan. This should take about one to five minutes to complete. When the scan has completed, you will be prompted to restart your system.

4 Click the "Restart" button when prompted to restart your computer. The computer will restart as normal and the Code 19 error will be fixed.

I would run a registry cleaner. There are lots to choose from and some of them work like Norton Utilities and PC Tools.

Code 19 error indicating corrupted registry. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works. I have the same problem with my memorex DVD ROM/CD RW drive. I think Norton 360 trashed my registry

Hi, the error code that you have is a known issue from Microsoft that needs a registry tweaks. Error code means "Your registry might be corrupted (code 19)."

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
5. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
