Question about JVC GR-D53 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

My JVC camcorder shows a message saying the lens cap is on and it is not, how can I fix that? the model is GR-D53

    My JVC GR-D53 has the same problem!!

    Did u find out what the issue was??? Mines been like that for a year :S

    My JVC GR-D53 has not been used for about 6 months and when I charged it up and switched it on, I have the LENS CAP message flashing on the LCD display (and also the viewfinder when close the LCD screen). I cannot get a picture on either the screen or the viewfinder, but the small icons appear on the screen; date/time, battery strength etc. The camcorder plays video footage on the tapes without any problems. Any suggestions as I do need it for saturday 26th January 2008.

    My model is GR-DF420 and I have the same problem I cannot get any picture on the viewfinder or screen - when I play back I can hear sound but no picture. Similarly I haven't used mine for a long time. Any ideas?

    I have a JVC GR-DF420 and I was advised that it was a common problem which they were repairing FOC but not sure if that is still ongoing. If you get in touch with jvc.co.uk they were very helpful and will be able to advise you.

Try to focalize for few seconds a very bright light. It works for me

Camcorder says lens cap is on when its not

This is problem of bad CCD Imager in your JVC GR-D32U model. This part need to be replaced.
JVC offers Free of Cost repair for such problem in same model cameras.

We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. its a problem with the ccd image sensor, i had exact same problem with mine!! not to worry though JVC offering free repair, must be a big problem.
