Monitor auto-focus problem with HP windows 7

My emachines HD flat panel monitor does not auto-focus perfectly with my new HP Pavilion Windows 7 computer. I have to manually push the auto focus button after every startup. The upper edges are off the viewing area, sometimes making it difficult to close windows. My computer is only a week old and has no viruses or spyware. Anyone know of a fix for this?

Go to the control panel (or it's equivalent) in Windows 7 and reset the monitor for a higher resolution which should reduce the image size. You may need to upgrade the monitor driver files for Win 7 so that 'auto-focus' is enabled.

Monitor will not turn off and keeps flashing the words Auto processing

it is not a bad rom. if it was a rom it would constantly act up but it only acts up upon overheating. The solution is difficult but if you open the monitor you can find all of the heatsinks take them of and replace them with bigger ones. or have a fan blowing on it at all time it is active i added bigger heatsinks to my emachine le1799 and it solved this problem of pulling up menu and changing setting by itself and the lack of the ability to turn power of.

HP a400n monitors

Sure but you shouldn't need to tell the computer what type of monitor it is, windows should simply send the signal to the monitor and poof up comes your display, more advanced versions may auto-detect or youc an select it in the control panel under display. Try craigslist to pick up a cheap monitor in your area. I got a 15'' flat for 20 bucks.
