Does it do it if it's empty?

please check this first.
get a level at home depot if you don't have one $2 and see if the dryer is leveled, if not level it with a block of wood or anything you want to have it leveled, then try it (unloaded)

Why doesn't walking mechanism work?

if the pressor foot anvil doesn't move up and down /back/forth , the machine might be in "DARNING " mode this is usually a small button in the bobbin area , but some machines have them on the back of cabinet as well

If the dryer is not sitting in all four corners and rocking back and forth, try adjusting the leveling feet to make it stable. Another cause of noise are worn idler wheels that have either buildup, or wear that makes a thumping noise. They would need to be replaced.

Washing machine walking

Make sure the washing machine is on a level and even surface. If the machine has adjustable feet ensure they are set correctly and that the machine does not rock back and forth or from side to side.

My mum recently had a knee operation, she doesn't need crutches but is it a good idea to get her a walking stick?

for people who are having some mobility issues, walking sticks can be a great way of feeling more balanced and confident. For more significant walking issues, two sticks used at the same time can give even greater balance.
If your mum recently had an operation, a walking stick might help her feel more confident to head outside and also acts as a warning to people that she has some kind of issue and they are less likely to bump into her.
Good luck.

Put a load of laudry in the dryer that was still holding water. Dryer stopped running and there was water sitting in the dryer. Now the dryer won't run

Hello, Welcome to FixYa.

There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting with Bosch.

To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll mention the most likely based on your description, "put a load of laundry in the dryer that was still holding water. Dryer stopped running and there was water sitting in the dryer. Now the dryer won't run"...and what to do about it.

**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here first**

There is an auto shut off or emergency kill switch next to the motor which will prevent it to start in the event it was tripped for whatever reason... likely from the excessive weight of the load you put in.

It will look like this image below and all you need to do is push it to the right ( from the back )...

If you`ve already taken the back of the dryer off to gain access you should have no problem. If you never have, it`ll take some time.

Either Scenario I alluded to ( the other would be resetting the hi-limit cut out, you can see through the back vent opening when the vent is removed and then by pushing the red button in...shown below ) will require the removal of that panel so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.

Keep me posted how you make out or if anything is not clear.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.

My Kenmore 80 series dryer won't stay on unless I

You are going to make me guess!
I am guessing you have to hold the start button down.
Try a new start button first.
If that does not fix it, replace the timer/control unit.
God bless your efforts.

I purchased an Elna 7000 on E-Bay.Wonderful machine. I also purchased a 492000-20 walking foot for it. I can not find instructions on how to attach the walking foot to the machine.

I'm assuming that this is a generic style walking foot for low shank machines and it will fit your Elna?
To attach it, you will see a long lever arm at the front of the foot and the little curved bracket at the back of the foot.

Remove your usual foot and the clip on foot holder by undoing the thumb screw. Now fit the walking foot on instead by putting the lever arm around the needle bar and the curved bracket around the pressure bar and then putting the thumb screw back into place and screw up tight to hold the foot in place. Now lower the pressure foot and manually wind your machine forward a few stitches. As the needle bar goes up and down, it should move the long lever arm too which works the walking foot teeth gripping the top layer of fabric with each stitch.

Trust this helps.

Belt problem

f the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.Using the hex key, turn both idler roller bolts clockwise,1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in. (5 to 7 cm) off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord, insert the key, and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened.
