Black screen. well.......its just a black screen.the backlight turns on but there's nothing on the screen.can it be fixed??or do i need 2 replace the screen???

If your Hitachi television has sound but a black screen, it is likely that either the bulb or the inverter has gone bad. The inverter is a part of the backlight system. If the inverter is not functioning, the backlight will not work and the television will be dark. You should check to see if the bulb needs to be replaced first. If the bulb is working and the inverter doesn't turn on, then you may need to have a technician take a look at the television.

Best bet would be main board, sounds like firmware in EEProm is corrupt

The backlight inverter is built into the power supply of this unit. When it fades to black screen, do you see any backlight at all?
If you do see some light, you have a 'blank screen' problem and the backlight is not the cause. Since you can still hear sound and can control the tv otherwise, the problem is likely in the TCON board.
If there is no light coming out, perform a flashlight test (search YouTube for details on this). If you pass the flashlight test, then try replacing the power supply board.

I will replace the T-CON board first.

The backlight is not turning on, it's the smaller of the two ribbon cables on the LCD assembly.

Make sure you have a backlight on your new LCD (not everybody sells it with the backlight!) or reuse your old backlight with the new LCD.

Check the backlight cable, is it ripped? Even slightly? If so, you need a new backlight.

There is only 2 reason why the screen is black. Your LCD backlight is broken or your LCD backlight inverted need to change. Bring your laptop to expert technician to replace that.

You most likely have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :- To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions. Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case. The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills. Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.

Look a the screen real close, if you see a faint dark version of the image, this could be a backlight issue, otherwise a screen cable or a logic board issue. Backlight repairs are somewhat difficult. As much as I would like to be able to tell you a quickfix that will solve backlight the problem, it's a pretty arduous repair that requires 1-2 hours for a trained person. It's feasible to do it yourself if you're tech savy, but you'll most likely have to google for guides that show you exactly how to replace the backlight step by step. Check on how to take the screen apart and make sure inverter is still connected properly. If the inverter is connected and you still don't have light, then you have a backlight issue. I DID REPAIR A MONITOR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT TURNED OUT, THAT ONE OF THE TWO HIGH TENSION GENERATORS FOR THE 2 LIGHTTUBES WAS BURNED OUT. BY REPLACING THE POWER TRANSISTORS AND THE 3 AMP. FUSE ON THE MAINBOARD THE MONITOR IS RUNNING AGAIN VERY WELL.
