You have two capacitors on the power board.....check to see if they are blown. You can if the top is bulging out. they 3300uf 10v 105degrees.
They cost about a buck apiece at radio shack.

I have a Magnavox 37MF321D/37. There is sound to the TV and it turns on and off. The screen does not light up at all and there is no visible picture. The power button remains green like normal.

Power supply board is bad.

Inspect for damaged electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board.

I have a Philips Model 37MF321D/37 that the screen and green led flashes as soon as AC is supplied to TV, buttons do not effect outcome it just blinks until power is removed.

I have a flat screen lcd 42 inch model number 37MF321D/37 and the on button just keeps flashing and the remote does nothing?

You have either a bad power supply ( a very common problem) or the inverter board that runs the back - light is bad. The power supply board will have capacitors that are leaking or puffed up looking. Same on the inverter board. If you can get a component leval repair then that is cheaper ... But most techs just replace the board. Not a do it yourself job. Expect a cost of $200.00 to $300.00
