Hi I am setting up this MB with a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 , and I have a strong power supply. Do I really need the DPS2 card if I do not do such intensive streaming as gaming? Thanks.
Thanks ArcAiV6 I will just leave it in. I am now trying to install Win7 from a USB flash memory or an external HDD. I set the first boot to USB-HDD but the computer does not recognize the hdd or flash . Any advice? Thanks ArcAiV6 I will just leave it in. Hello. Looking at your specs, I assume that a Pentium 4 is not enough to run these kinds of games, so the overwhelming amount of data going through the cpu may have been causing your system to overheat. Do these steps: (1) Uninstall and then re-install your graphics card driver, if problem persists, go to number 2 (2) Try playing around with the ATI Catalyst settings, set everything there to default (3) If problem still persists, then I -am- sure that your PC and/or graphics card is way too overheated, in this case: (a) I recommend getting a heat-monitor (doesn't come cheap though) for your PC, to keep yourself notified of the temperatures of your PC (b) Try buying more fans and if you can afford it get a water-cooling system
Above all, if you can afford a better -Gaming- PC then I'd suggest that, because your system isn't really that great for new games.
HI there. There are loads of makers of memory and graphics cards out there to choose from. For the ram i would recommend Corsair or Kingston, you can get this ram as a matching pair so the both run at the same speed, the best ram to get is DDR 400. As for the graphics card, i recommend ATI radeon X1650 Pro 512MB graphics card. These upgrades will make your machine purr like a kitten with an excellent gaming experience.
Assuming you mean a bad framerate and not actual 'lag', the problem
would appear to exist in your processor, as it is old and outdated. and
only just fits the minimum requirements to RUN THE GAME, not run the
game well.
Answer: You should upgrade your CPU to a Pentium Dual-core at least. WoW System Requirements Processor:Minimum: Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+ Recommended: Dual-core processor, such as the Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2
Memory:Minimum: 512 MB RAM (1GB for Vista users) Recommended: 1 GB RAM (2 GB for Vista users)
Video:Minimum: 3D graphics processor with Hardware Transform and Lighting with 32 MB VRAM
Such as an ATI Radeon 7200 or NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or better Recommended: 3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 128 MB VRAM
Such as an ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT class card or better
Check to see if you can upgrade the bios or set it to 8X if not, then your wasting the potential of the card.
Also, your power suply may not have enough power for all the devices you have hooked in, try unplugging the CD. floppy drive and try booting with just the main componets and see if it blows the PW supply again.
450W should be enough but may be not, depending on how many fans and other devices you have. Plus, the mainboard may not be able to handle it. Its shutting off to protect the system from getting fried.
Again, check the bios, you may be able to set it to a higher output for that Video card. Or even change it to 8x. It is quite old though, you may just have to put in for a new system. Keep all your receipts in case you have to take back that video card.
Intel Pentium® III, AMD™ Duron or Athlon™ class processor or higher 128MB system RAM A 300W system power supply An AGP 2.0 (or higher) compliant motherboard 50MB of available hard disk space CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive Microsoft® Windows® 98, ME, 2000, XP, or Windows® VGA or DVI-I compatible monitor This is what you need for graphic card to work!!! Its very good card!!!
