Paper Jam error message

Maybe the sensor is faulty or dirty. Sounds intermittent

Device error An internal error occurred in the device. Press (Select) to resume the job. - Door open The printer door is open. The door must be closed before printing can continue. - Engine comm. error The device experienced an internal communication error. This is a warning message only. Job output might be affected. - Invalid driver You are using the incorrect printer driver. Reselect the printer driver appropriate for your device. - Invalid entry Invalid data or response. Correct the entry. - Jam in Cartridge area A paper jam has occurred in the print path. Open the door and clear the jam. Then press the (Select) button on the control panel - Jam in Output bin A paper jam has occurred in the output area. Clear the jam, and then press the (Select) button on the control panel. - Jam in print paper path. A paper jam has occurred in the print path. Open the door and clear the jam. Allow the device to finish the job, or press (Select) to cancel the job. Break the job into smaller jobs that contain fewer pages. - Misprint The printed pages have been incorrectly placed on the paper. To continue, press the (Select) button on the control panel.

Try clean the feed roller.
Probably your feed roller is not piking the paper and gives you a message of paper jam.
You can clean it or change it.

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

Explanation of the paper jam message

A 241.09 Paper Jam message indicates that the printer thinks a sheet of paper has jammed at the front of the printer. The jammed sheet of paper is most likely to be found in one of the paper trays or under the toner cartridge.
NOTE: If you select Show areas on the operator panel, you can view one or more images to help you locate and clear the jam.

Clearing the jam
To resolve the paper jam message, you must first clear the entire paper path. To access the jam area, you will need to open one or more of the paper trays. Follow the steps in the table below to help you locate and clear the jam.
Step Action Image 1 Open the printer paper tray (tray 1), and remove any jammed media you find there. 2 Open the front cover and remove the toner cartridge. Examine the area inside the printer and remove any jammed media you find there. 3 If you have a duplex option installed, also remove the duplex access tray and remove any jammed media you find there. 4 If you were printing from an optional paper tray, such as tray 2 or tray 3, open any optional trays, starting at the top, and remove any jammed media. Pull the print media either up or down. If it does not pull easily one way, try the other way 5 If you are printing from an optional 2000-sheet feeder, open the front door. Press the elevator button (A) to lower the tray. Remove any partially fed media from the feeder.
NOTE: Make sure the stack of print media is straight and pushed all of the way into the feeder. Incorrectly loaded paper is the most common cause of paper jams from a 2000-sheet feeder option.

NOTE: You may receive a different paper jam message informing you that another sheet of paper is jammed elsewhere in the printer. If this occurs, the error code will indicate the location. Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find and try printing again.

Seems you have a dusty roller in the feed mechanism. try cleaning off the roller with some windex (or equivalent) on a towel.

Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.

Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.

Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.

If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.

If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly (see A). The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.

If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.

Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.

If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.

hp printers typically do not have an error message to cover every known condition, thus if the printer needs maintenance in an undefined area, it will invariably indicate a paper jam. The printer usually responds to the installation of a maintenance kit which will include transfer roller, pickup rollers, and fuser.

I will try to help you. Paper jam error may be caused by some possibilities. So, please notice this indication:

• If the printer status is READY immediately after Power ON then Paper Jam Error message appears while feeding the paper: Sheet Feeder Unit is faulty or any other material (such as broken paper) present inside paper path blocking paper end to reach paper feed sensor.
• If Paper Jam Error messages appears immediately after Power ON: Paper feed sensor or logic board is faulty

Corrective action:

• Remove the material from paper path
• Replace Sheet Feeder Unit
• Replace Paper Feed Sensor / Logic Board
