In the middle of ironing a shirt, the iron stopped heating up. I thought the power had gone out. I tried to plug it in several other plugs, but it won't heat up. I have had the iron for less than a year and we there are only my husband and myself to iron for so it didn't get much use.

Check the power supply: Make sure that the iron is properly plugged in and that the outlet is working. If the outlet is not working, try plugging the iron into a different outlet.
Check the temperature setting: Make sure that the temperature setting on the iron is set correctly for the type of fabric you are ironing. If the temperature is set too low, the iron may not heat up properly.
Check for mineral buildup: If the iron has not been descaled recently, mineral buildup in the steam chamber could be causing the heating element to malfunction. Try descaling the iron following the manufacturer's instructions.
Check the heating element: If the heating element is damaged or has burned out, the iron will not heat up. In this case, the iron may need to be repaired or replaced.
sounds like a loose connection in the power transfer, some piece of metal may be broken or the cord itself may be damaged in some place, you could try replacing the cord. I would just go and buy a new iron. They aren't all that expensive anymore. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope you solve your problem. If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet,,test the outlet with desk lamp for to see if working. check the electrical cord, and check the thermostat + fuse inside replace if necessary. God bless you
The most likely cause is a broken wire in the cord. Replacement should only be done by a qualified electrical appliance repairer. Ask for a quote as it may be cheaper to buy a new iron!
I do believe the thermostat is defective. All the iron have a small thermastat top control the temperature and is working like a switch. If the switch don`t work get stuck on the same position.Unfortunatly sometimes is better get a new one themn fix an old one but this is The Market and nothing i can do personally. Also make sure the thermostat knob is working properly. If you hear a click when you turn is ok.
Good Luck
I suspect that by placing it on its heel rest the water from the tank is not allowed to enter into the steam chamber and when you go into ironing mode there is a rush of water that is cooling down the sole plate to below steaming temperature. Try keeping it in the horizontal position on a heat proof pad and press the steam button just before going into ironing mode.
