Hello; If you have a plasma TV, is fairly common to hear buzz noises. They can be always there or intermittent. They can get louder as the screen gets brightest. If the buzz is noticeable when you are at normal volume setting, the buzz is excessive and a PCB probably needs replacing. These buzz noises are almost never a sign of failure or safety. LCD TV's can also buzz, but the same applies. John
I understand your issue as not getting the Digital reception from your converter box. The antenna plays an important role in what you can get. If you still have the Amplified antenna try to reduce the amplification and readjust the antenna positions. You might have to do this several times until you get it right. Also, if you live in a city and not a rural location do not use an amplified antenna and see if it is any better.
Good Luck.
yes you will. either install an outside antenna or get a good amplified indoor antenna. try your old antenna first, but when your picture freezes or it says something like " weak signal " you will need that new antenna
How have you got freeveiw connected to your set and what input are you using?
when connecting the freeveiw unit to the tv did you have the power connected and turned on to either tv or freeveiw?
how many sets are connected to the freeveiw unit,
All these things can affect this equation,
it sounds like the set had a power surge from the plugging in of the freeview,
the f connection output from the freeveiw set has a live voltage feed that powers either the mast head amp or the balun in the center of the dish,
for these to work correctly the cable between the freeveiw and the aerial/dish needs power,
this annoying little fault can only be remedied by taking it to the repair man,
According to the Samsung website: "The high pitched sound you hear is probably coming from the flyback transformer. The flyback transformer converts the relatively low voltage electricity that comes from the outlet in your home to the high voltage electricity needed to drive the cathode ray tube in your TV. It is not unusual for a flyback transformer to buzz softly when it operates. However, if the sound is loud and high pitched, it probably means the transformer is failing. To eliminate the sound, you will have to get your TV serviced."
