reset to factory default through the menus on the remote control. If, after resetting, the problem persists you should consult a competent tv technician
If it is an infrared remote... you can test it with a digital camera by turning the camera on and pointing the remote at the camera, then look at the viewfinder while pushing any button on the remote and if it is sending a signal you will see it illuminate in the viewfinder. This help identify if it is the remote or the device that is not working.
You have to put the TV into 3D mode to view it by pressing the 3D button on the remote. Before you press that button, look at the screen... if you see two images side by side, then you would choose SBS... if the images are one on top of the other, then it is the over/under mode, or with Vizio,Top/Bottom option which is the "TB" icon. Once you have chosen this, the screen will inform you to put on your 3D Glasses.
Hi there are a couple of hings that could be bad with your tv. Your screen or your t-con board would be the most obvious. Screens are expensive to replace so I would try replacding the t-con board. The t-con is the board thattransfers your signal to the lcd screen. It is usually located on the top center of the tv. You would need to open up your tv and get the part number fro the board.
You can get get parts for this tv at www.interliquidparts.com
I also had an LG M197WDP tv/Monitor with the same problem. It comes straight on when plugged in, but with the blank screen and scrolling version number across the top.
The solution:
1. Use the remote control (check batteries first)
2. Point at the working TV and press either MENU or EXIT
3. Static should be seen on the screen.
4. Switch to standby using the remote, by preesing POWER button.
5. Switch back on using the POWER button.
All should then be working normally
Most universal remotes don't have the screen mode button. So, your better off with the orginal remote for the TV.
The cheapest place I can find one for you is NewRemoteControl.com
It's going for $49.95
It's a little pricey, but it will have all the option buttons for the TV.
