Hi
I have got an S5000 that I can still view previously taken pictures from the card, but when trying to take pictures the screen and view finder shows a peculiar distorted purple and green picture and any picture taken is just a green blur.
I contacted Fuji and they say they can repair it for £90 (about $120)

Fuji Finepix F30 Suddenly takes only all pink screens (no image)

This sounds like one of two problems -
Either an LCD screen problem or a bad CCD sensor.
A LCD screen problem would indicate one of two of the following - it was cracked, or the cable inside is either damaged or moved out of the plug and need to be reseated.

A bad CCD sensor would show a pink screen on cameras, but would also show menus on the screen as well, do you see those? The CCD basically captures the image the lens is seeing and translates it to an image the camera can save. Generally the CCD can not be replaced separately from the lens and will require an entire lens assembly for repair.

Pictures being lost on camera.

It's a good bet that the images can be recovered fairly easily. There is image recovery software you can apply to the memory card that has good success in restoring the images. It is something you can purchase (the software), or have most photo stores perform for you. Most stores will charge on a per image recovered price structure.

Fuji camera

Most likely no. The first thing i would do is go out and buy a card reader and try connecting that to your computer and see if that works. if it does then there is something wrong with the camera Possibly. If it doesn't then there is probably something wrong with the card and you need to either buy a image rescue software program or take it somewhere that they do image recovery for you. The card reader should not cost you more than 20 dollars and you will either need one for sd cards or xd cards depends on your current model of fuji.
It says on the card which type it is.

hope that helps,
Caleb

Cloudy white pictures

Cloudy images are usually a result of ccd gone bad. Try power reset, maybe it helps..

Black screen

If you can play back images ok ( colour & resolution normal ) but in capture mode you have no image then the CCD sensor in your camera is faulty. Replace.
