Well, likely that the 2nd port is another way to connect the monitor to the computer. Or, connect the monitor to a second computer and flip between the inputs. highly unusual to feed 1 monitor off of another.

Is that a port for an additional monitor or is it simply an alternative method of connecting the monitor to the PC. My monitor has a vga input along with a dvi input and a hdmi input. These are all inputs not outputs.. Unless the port is specifically labeled as an additional monitor output, the chances are its an input.. You may have to use proprietry software to make any additional outputs available.. if the monitor is a Samsung, go to the samsung website and search for the monitor model. or read the manual..

The graphics card can only support two monitors at a time. One being the notebooks built-in display and the other being either the HDMI or VGA ports. You will have to attempt to disable the notebooks built-in display. Good luck.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY VGA PORT IS ENABLED?

Press, and hold down on the Fn key, and AT THE SAME time tap once on the F5 key.

The F5 key is the Display Toggle-Over key.

Still no?
There are at least 3 display options;
1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY.
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F5 key.

A compaq TFT450, can it be used with USB to View?

no USB is not a video cable ever.
i guess you lost the manual, that it?
it tells you what the USB does.
page 2 tells you that is a USB hub, you use it to connect other USB devices, for say pc that has only 1 or 2 USB ports this allows more.
it is not related to VIDEO in any way.

My 2 usb ports on my monitor not working

In order for the two USB ports on the monitor to work, the monitor itself has to be connected to your computer via another USB cable with connectors that look like this:
8130925.jpg
The flat connector goes into an available USB port on your computer, the square one plugs into your monitor. Check if your cable is connected properly or exchange it with another one.
To eliminate that there is something wrong with your "not recognized device", plug this device into another USB port of your computer. The reason to preferably remove the device safely in Windows is that you can loose data if you just unplug it. If it is an external harddrive, it can get damaged, because you interrupt the power and the read/write head can get "stuck". So check this device on another computer or USB port.

If you have any other questions or something is not clear to you, just come back here and leave a comment and I'm happy to help.

The camera has to plugged into a usb 1.1 port, it will not work with a usb 2.0 port. Try using the additional usb ports on a monitor or keyboard. Otherwise you will need to use a usb 1.1 Hub.

I'm assuming you are speaking of the USB ports on the Monitor?

Do you have the USB cable running from the back of your computer to the back of your monitor? For those ports to work, you need a USB cable that runs from the computer to your monitor. This is a cable in addition to the power cable and the video cable. Verify you have three cables connected.

If you are not speaking about the USB ports on the monitor, please advise...
