How do I remove the cover to replace the light bulbs on a Round Nautilus brand bathroom exhaust fan from the 1980's.

Most exhaust fan covers use a spring steel wire in a V shaped configuration. The bottom of the V is attached to the cover. There is a slot in the fan housing and by pinching the tops of the V togetherand insert them in the slots the spring pressure pulls the cover up tight to the ceiling.Carefully pulling the cover down enough to reach over the cover and pinch thewires together should allow the cover to be removed. Hope this helps.

The fan only works if plugged in to outlet on the wall, not on the fan itself.

Check at the switch location to see if the switch is working properly. This can be done by checking to see if the switch
has voltage and is working properly. Turn off the switch that operates the fan and then at the electric panel, turn off power to the bathroom. Remove the switch from the box, leaving the wires intact. Once the switch terminal are easily accessible and totally away from any ground source, turn on the power and with a voltage tester, check to see if you have power to it. Now carefully turn the switch on and check the other terminal to make sure there is voltage. If you have voltage on both terminals, then the problem may be at the fan location. There is a junction box in it that has the termination between the hardwire cable and the receptacle leads. this may have become loose due to vibrations. check at that location.

How to oil a broan bathroom fan motor

The fan motor is pre-oiled and sealed so it can not be oiled if fan motor is squeeling then motor replacement is the only option. You can get replacement motors which is usually cheaper than buying a whole new fan. Will need to know the model # of broan fan. I hope this information was helpful. Please rate the information given. Good Luck and have a great day. Jeff
