I bought my wife a Model WD-12331AD LG All-in-One Washing Machine. The Instruction manual is not well written and conseqeuntly we are having problems in operating the machine. The washing cycles and selection options are reasonably clear as far as we can understand, but we cannot get the Dryer to work??? The manual says that we must leave the cold water tap on while operating the Dryer but the drying cycle took 3 hours and when we took the washing out it was STREAMING HOT literally hot but decidedly damp. Not dry in the least so we were forced to hang the washing up to dry completely.
We then spoke to a technician from LG and he told us that we must ignore the manual. He claimed that the correct procedure is to turn the "Power" on then press the "DRY" button repeatedly until the correct temperature is obtained and then press the "SPIN" button to select OFF and then press the "START/PAUSE" button. We tried this and the machine performed a few revolutions while the "detecting" window/light flashes and then the machine stopped and did nothing more.
Please can someone give me the correct step-by-step operating instructions for this machine.

Some magic happened today!
I got the thing (wd-12331ad) to dry without having to run a wash first!
Also, I seemed to get it to do a spin only run...
The way to get it to dry :
-----------------------------------
(for a set time - I've not managed to get any of the auto-dry settings to work)
from machine being off:
> press the power button.
> press the "Dry" button 'til "Time" lights up
>>> press "Dry" again to get the desired duration
> press the spin button 'til the spin speed shows blank/ the RPM light goes out.
> press "Start/Pause"
It will then dry for the number of minutes specified!
Not perfect, I know but that's serious progress from where I was before; having to re-run a wash cycle to get it to dry anything...
Something to note:
- The machine worryingly sounds like it's starting to fill with water when you start the "Just Dry" program which scared me at first. BUT it stops after a second or so (I think it's just cleaning out the detergent tray so it doesn't bake any leftover powder)
For "spin only" from machine being off:
-------------------------------------------------------
> press the power button.
> press the spin button
>>> if you press "Start/Pause" now you get a 13 minute 1200 spin cycle
>>> press the spin button again and then "Start/Pause", it seems to drain itself for 1 minute
>>> pressing spin repeatedly, cycles through the spin speeds.
Things I don't know:
----------------------------
- I don't know if you can combine spin and heat.
- I don't know whether the auto-dry programs are available
- I don't know what other programs are available from the "Dry"/"Spin" buttons
...So if anyone does any experimenting, please let us know the results, you never know, we might end up with a half way useful set of instructions! I'm starting to think the machine's not half as bad as it seems when following the manual alone.
Hope that helps.

Hi Im writin from Chile, i got the same problem with the machine.

Usually answered in minutes!
I have exactly the same issues. I can't really add anything else to it.
Same problem. Manual is very poorly written and while it implies that it can work in Dryer only mode it doesn't specifically tell you how to start this mode.
The instruction you have been given seem to work on my machine though - Power button / dry button / spin button. Can be un-nerving when you hear the water starting and you think it is going into another wash cycle, but the water is needed as part of the condenser drying cycle.
Hi,Im in Durban SA and I have the machine now for 4 years and never use it to dry coz it still comes out damp.My problem was with the spinning cycle. It gets stuck @ 14 mins for like 30 mins then finishes up the spin cycle?!I hate it.I def would not be buying another hi tech machine. The simpler cheaper machines work better
First off is this a vented dryer or a condensing dryer.. (is it vented to the outside?)
As with first guy on this thread, I've got a wd-12331ad.
The machine is a condenser washer-dryer, with all-digital controls.
I have the same issues (though drying performance is Ok for me):
I have no Idea how to set the machine to "Just Dry". Meaning you can't put the washing back in the machine to dry if it starts to rain.
Please help me!
Also, the machine switches itself off when it's pause (e.g. pause while removing something to cure an uneven load or remove something while drying)
This means you can't resume the program you were using, without starting from scratch! Any ideas??
I sent a message (2 weeks ago) on the LG support site, but the haven't got back to me...
Thanks in advance.
