Dark screen on HP Photosmart E327

The E327 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it's electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed to accept SDHC cards. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

You can't use the e327 as a webcam. It was designed to store images (and videos) to memory, not to stream live video to another device.

1. From the application you are printing from, click Print , and then Properties . The Print Properties screen opens.
2. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
3. Select dpi (light to dark )
   
4. Click OK .

Try unplugging a few other things like USB hubs before plugging in the camera. If this does not work, please advise what other messages you get when attempting to connect the camera.
If you are PC savvy, check out device manager in control panel to see if this gives you any more indication as to what the problem is.

adjusting timer

The main two causes for this, are the inverter, which supplies the screen with the proper amount of power in order to function correctly, or the screen. If the inverter isn't puting out enough power it will cause the screen to darken or black out completely. Start by checking the screen connections. If all the connection are properly seated, the it's either the inverter or the screen it self.

I had to buy the memory card for mine when I got it and it holds about 160 images.
