I have a 42 inch floor model large screen tv, by magnavox that I purchased 1987. I've been informed that the "Power Board is gone; that it keeps shorting out the fuses. Please, please help me. It was a gift that my whole family grew up with, a special gift from a beloved family member who is deceased. We are desparate to keep this TV. h e l P !

yes...the video card could have gone out but most likely you have a connection that is loose or bad. I would check those first. If you have done so then I would try another video port and verify that it is the screen that is out and not just the port you are in.

I cannot say enough about this model. There is a bad capacitor or two in this set. You should be looking for a buldged cap at maybe 25 or 35 volts at 2200Mfs. Replace this and the next one near would be a 35 volt at 1200 Mfs. I have a question for you, if the model number is 42 MF, the screen is large. And yet you say it has a 19 inch screen. I'm not sure if you have the large TV or the small TV. The answer I give you is for the large screen. Hope this helps you! Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

power supply or inverter board failing if the power board is the problem it will have blown caps
little cans with puffy tops because the caps have vented if you don't see that then your inverter has died that model id out of production so try shop jimmy. com

check for cracked power board, also the screen can also be damaged.

This is probably caused by the small signal board. It controls and decodes the picture information before it is sent to the display panel. It can be fixed by a quailified technician and if you contact philips (this is who makes magnavox) they will tell you the closest certified technician. Hope this helps.

One of the driver IC'S has gone bad. Need to replace just the driver IC or the board that the IC is on and that should solve your problem. If that doesn't do it, then the BAD NEWS IS THAT THE PANEL IS BAD. Replacement is you only option then. Good luck. GURU JAY.
