Question about Philip Stein Teslar Oversized Chronograph watch

3 Answers

Watch repair I have a couple of questions about my Phillip Stein watch. First of all, does the teslar chips ever need replacement? Mine are looking very worn. Next question... the top portion of my watch is not working. The bottom portion is. Does the watch have two batteries?? One on top and one on bottom?? Can I replace the top battery only if that is the case? Please let me know as soon as possible since I wear it every day. Thanks, Matt Cohen

My watch and my wifes watch have the same problem the top watch is completely dead while the bottom works well.

The same exact thing has happened to me also. The top watch stopped and the bottom works just fine. It sounds like this might be a warranty issue due to the amount of customers with the same problem. With that said who can we contact that is capable of fixing it.

Hi
I took mine to a local reputable watch repairer - assuming you have a large chronograph like mine then yes it will have two batteries. I replaced both for £10. Philip Stein repairer in UK quoted me £55 for the same thing! The batteries are no great mystery - standard swiss types. Most are £4.50 each.
Hope this helps...........

They have been flipping the chips instead of replacing them. This is not TESLAR this is PHILIP STEIN. If the chip look like a different color it has been flipped and you have been scammed! They also might take the teslar chip out completely and replace it with a new "alloy module" which does not work at all!

Watch batteries are universal. Take it to a jeweler and get the battery replaced. Watches use "button cells" and there are many different sizes but many are interchangeable.

How to spot a fake philip stein watch?

If someone wants to sell it to you for less than $100 then it is probably fake. Have it checked by a reputable watchmaker or take it to a store that sells them and compare. Usually, it is pretty obvious what fakes look like. Don't go by what it says on the face plate. If it looks like a dull finish, that is also a give away. Hope this helps, Good Luck
