Question about ASUS P5VD2-X Motherboard

1 Answer

Boot problems. Are there compatibility problems between this motherboard and Vista? I have about 10% success rate when starting my PC. Usually it gets as far as the 'Microsoft' logo appearing at the lower part of the screen, the yellow flashing light on the PC stops flashing after a few seconds (continues to blink) and nothing else happens. I sometimes have success if I boot using the 'Last known good configuration' option, or carry out a restore back a few days or sometimes a restart from safe mode works. Thanks

In vista i m getting booting problem

Hello,
It sounds like your vista boot files are corrupt. You can reinstall vista and leave your files intact. Just select install when you boot your system and choose not to format hard drive. This should clear your problem.

Good Luck

Hello there what i think may have been obvious to you. So i will tell you what i think is wrong. You see vista is a very high software and requires motherboards that are top of their game i think you should get you motherboard upgraded to a point where vista rates it to total of 2.5 then everything should run ok. if you want to ask for further assistance write back to this post and i will be ready to assist you.

Reinstalling Problem

Once you disrupt the partition table by introducing a new linux partition the recovery program is unable to identify the recovery partition. The only success I have had is to boot from a program called partition table doctor and using it to rebuild the master boot record and partition table structure, you can download it here: partition table doctor

of course there is no guarantee it will cure your problem but it is a very powerful tool I have used with some success. Please rate my assistance as we depend on your rating to carry on giving FREE advice.

well, I suppose it could be the motherboard, though I doubt it. I wonder did you check; the board, processor and graphics card on against the vista HCL (Hardware Compatability List) you should be able to find it on microsofts website. Unfortunately being a 64 bit OS, and considering how new it is, very few devices, software and drivers are actually designed to work on vista yet. I hear alot of complaints about vista not working properly. thruth is vista isn't the problem, other companies didn't keep up. anyway, I hope you can fix it. and honestly I hope it isn't a hardware compatibility issue. Either way Good Luck
