Look at the power supply module, most of them will have a surge protection devices (called MOV, same as used in common surge power strip but cannot handle big surge that power strip can handle) installed to protect minor surge, it should blow the fuse. Once MOV blown, it will more likely stay short circuit, if you put the new fuse in it will blow the fuse right away. You need to see if the MOVs blew up any sign of blown up components.

after the lightning struck now when we try to turn the tv on the light on the bottom light comes on red but the screen never comes.also i cant find any of my paperwork on the warranty from HSN would it be worth fixing or should i just throw it away
ive already taken it to a tv repair place here and they said it would cost more to fix than it was worth they couldnt find where to get parts for it since i didnt have my paperwork from the mfr.i think they said something about the motherboard im not sure

If it's under warranty then have it replaced,that will be the easiest and most convenient option ( althought it may take a while for shipping and processing :/ ) Otherwise if it isnt under warranty,you need to get a multimeter for testing. Can you describe it's behavior when you plug it in and try to turn it on?
