Hi, I assume this is a split system, with the indoor and outdoor unit. If you are talking about the fan on the outdoor unit, this is the condenser fan motor. It is exposed to the heat of the ambient temp. and removing the heat from indoors. If you have a heat pump, this motor runs year around and gets a lot of use. I have seen the 5mfd run capacitor fail which could cause this motor not to start, but more than likely the condenser fan motor has burned out.If it is the outdoor unit you are talking about, can you hear the compressor come on when you start it? You may stand by the unit and have someone turn the t-stat to cool and see if you hear it come on. It will shut off after awhile due to high head pressure. But, if nothing happens, you may not be getting power from the breaker being tripped or a blown fuse at the disconnect box at the unit.Check these before calling out a tech.If you are talking about the indoor fan, make sure the panels are on good if its a gas unit as there is a door switch that is closed and if the panel is loose, it will stop the fan from coming on. The indoor blower motor may also be burned out. It shouldn't take more then an hour at the most to find out what is causing this problem. Could be a fan relay. I would recommend calling a qualified a/c Co. to come out and check this. Wish I was there and could be of more help.
Good Luck, Sincerely, Shastalaker7

2012 elantra gls ac condensor fan not working. when fan is running from high coolant temp, high side ac pressure drops drastically

Check the fuse and relay related to the AC. Your fan should come on when the AC is turned on. Right now the fan is working only off the engine temp., not the AC.

2007 Silverado LT 4.8L new body style. Electric Radiator fans do not come on when engine is hot nor after turning off, will only come on when AC is turned on. Engine runs correct temp while air flows...

Most often caused by a bad fan relay. This is a complicated system. Read the post below and download the GM wiring diagrams. Then check the fuses and relays. All 3 relays must be in perfect working order for the system to work properly.

Is the fan coming on when you turn

When the car is not moving with enough speed and you turn the AC on, the fan automatically turns on to cool the compressor

Hi my 2009 mondeo 20ltr titanium fan will not turn of. Start car without ac on fan comes on at full speed for a few seconds then goes of I turn ac on that comes on so does fan back to full speed not slow...

The fan is connected to the ac circuit to move air through the condensor in front of the radiator when the ac is turned on . This is to stop high head pressures in the ac and prevent damage to the compressor. There may be a problem with a coolant sensor that is turning the fan on otherwise so run fault codes and see if anything comes up

I have a 2004 chevy malibu which overheats due to the fans not coming on..i checked the actuall fans and they do come on..checked relays and coolant temp sitch and its good

if your fans come on with ac on,then your fans are OK ,coolant temp sensor, is bad, need to be changed,(that is how fan relay get it's ground,or it gets direct ground when you turn the AC on)
so if it comes on with AC on,your fans and relays are good
you can run the car with ac on till you fix the problem(it only hurts your gas millage)

My 1995 impala overheat when i turn ac off.. but fine when ac on

leave A/C off and check to see if radiator fan is coming on when engine is hot. If not, troubleshoot fan and fan circuit. See my tips at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5929960-s_thermostat

My thermostat says -AC WHAT DOES THAT MEANB

Turn your fan from auto to on at thermostat, fan should come on. If
you still get the (AC) and fan does not come on, change the batteries at the thermostat if they have them..

To see if thermostat is bad, do this.
1) Turn power off to Furnace/AirHandler.
2) Remve Bowler Door and find where thermostat wires connect to control board. Remove wires and write down which terminal they go
to.

3)Take a wire and hook-up between R and Y. Put door back on, turn power on. Fan should come on and AC should come on.
