I thought Win XP would automatically recognize the flash?

so the basic question...how do I save to the flash? !!!!!

Open Widows Explorer.
Click on My Computer.
All the drives are now listed.
The drive letter for your USB drive should be obvious but if not try removing drive and observe changes to drive descriptions.
Having located drive you can right click on it if you like and create folders within it.
Now when you 'save as' you can specify this particular drive letter and choose any folder within. Alternatively you can simply drag and drop from any other drive.

Insert it into the USB port in your computer. If you are running Windows XP the recognition process should be automatic. You will receive a balloon pop-up window at your system tray regarding this process. Do not use the drive until the balloon pop-up states "Your new hardware is installed and ready to use." Once installed, you will have a new assigned drive letter in Windows. A computer with many drives may have a mid-alphabet letter, such as I: or J:.

Open the File -> Save OR File -> Save As... to save a copy.

At the drop-down box at the top of the Save dialog, look for your new drive. It will most likely be titled Removable Disk X: (Where X is the letter mentioned earlier).

Flaeh drive problem

is it formatted / partitioned if it is new you will need to partition it and format it, If you are running win 98 you may have to download drivers to use it. on XP right click My computer, Choose manage and go to disk management, you should be able to see the flash drive there, if it is unpartitioned or unformatted, you should then be able to partition it and format it if you are using this flash disk on several systems it may be best to format as FAT 32 as it is more portable
