You have a defective lcd screen that needs to be replaced, even if LED back light works.

ever time i turn on my vititar camera it has a white screen i cant take pictures or see the pictures i have taken how do i fix it. It looks like this

Most likely your Vivitar needs a new battery....if you've lost your a/c adapter-you can use a standard USB cable to charge your camera. Plug the smaller end into your Vivitar & the larger end into your turned on PC/laptop & it'll charge the battery.

I removed the HDMI cable and connected with component video and rca audio. No more white screen.

Picture quality looks good. I don't know if it's as good as HDMI, but then I don't need to reboot the TV three times to get to teh on-demand menu... Grrrrr....

I am trying to contact Toshiba on this as well. I have seen several reports of this problem on the web.

If you press the OK button on record video mode, you get a set of menus that includes white balance, exposure, resolution, etc. You probably already figured this out, but for anyone else that has the same problem, hope this helps!

Screen may have damaged ribbon connector in hinge/pivot assembly. Have it serviced

Vivitar was purchased by Sakar and they do not support anything that Vivitar used to make or carry any of the products. I suggest looking on ebay to see if anyone is auctioning it. If not, Google it for something like "Vivitar DVR 390H docking station".

But to be honest, it probably is not the docking station. I have had the same problem, as many others have had, that the connector in the camera is the issue. This camera has TONS of design flaws.

The only thing I would sugest is to pull the battery (and leave it out for 24 hours (or longer)) to try to reset the camera. But I would guess that the LCD stoped working and the white screen you see is the back lit screen mounted behind the LCD.

Sounds like the shock from being dropped may have caused some internal connections to the screen to become loose causing the stripes or blank screen. It is also possible something might have been damaged. It sounds more like a loose connection and not any damage, but I don't know for sure. My suggestion would be to get it looked at by a professional.
